My gift was an inside joke between us – picture of this type of squirrel he thinks is awesome (don’t ask I can’t explain!):

He got me for the rest of his life. That’s a big enough gift lol. We didn’t do presents the day of. I don’t see the point.

nothing! we had spent enough on the wedding, we agreed not to do gifts. it would have stressed me out as my husband is difficult to buy for too. but the tie clip sounds nice 🙂

I got him a watch. Since it was a big$ purchase, I picked out 3-4 I liked beforehand and let him choose his favorite. So it wasn’t a total surprise but he got the perfect one.

We didn’t exchange presents either. The wedding was costing enough!

ashleymarie843 :  This was probably my favorite thing about the whole wedding! But you need backstory…

On our second date we started at a bookstore. Darling Husband got there first and texted me that Eriq LaSalle from ER came up to him thinking he worked there and they had a nice conversation. When I got to the store they were chatting again. We kept running into Eriq over and over as we browsed until we started joking that he was stalking us. Then we saw him from across the store making a bee-line for us. He asked us what genres of books we liked and then asked if we ever read suspense thrillers. We both said not usually and he brought out a book from behind his back in a dramatic flourish. He had, apparently, written a suspense thriller which he then kind of hard-sold to us. It was so weird and funny but we were so thrown off by the whole experience we basically said “Um… we’ll think about it” and didn’t buy the book! SO DUMB.

This has been a story we’ve told over and over and I always end with saying if I knew this was a story I’d be telling with my future husband, I would have bought it, had him sign it, and taken a picture! That signed book was like a huge missing piece in our relationship. So… several months before the wedding I tracked down Eriq’s website and emailed his assistant with our story. Eriq actually replied himself and said he remembered us! He sent signed copies of that book plus the second in the series for free! He wrote a really sweet note inside.

So… the night before the wedding I gave my husband a new wallet with a metal card thing inside that was engraved with some words from our first dance song, then the box with the book in it. He opened it and was kind of confused at first. Then he must have read the author’s name and was all “No!! No you didn’t!! HAHAHAHA” like crying laughing. It was amazing. But then I told him to open the book and he got all shocked “nooooo… no way!!!!” and he opened it to the title page with the signature and flipped out. Stomping his feet, laughing, crying, losing his breath. It was the best thing ever! I’m so glad he made us open our gifts together instead of the next morning.

I gave him a boudoir mini album. Our wedding photographer cut me a great deal. He gave me a sketch of my wedding dress and his suit. We tried to give each other gifts that we each would like. We were both happy with both!

We met because while we were in college, he moved into the house across the street from mine, so that street is very special to us. So I got him a street sign from the street (well I had one made that looked like the street sign there) and wrote him a letter on the back of it on the morning of our wedding. He loved it and totally cried, which our photographer captured.
