I used to attend WW (twice actually). But ended up stopping because I couldn’t keep up with counting points (I also have type 1 diabetes and count carbs… just too much counting!). At meetings, there is a weigh-in, which is private. Then you sit down and the team leader chats for about 30-45 minutes about the topic of the week. Sometimes it’s something topical like a holiday, and sometimes it’s more broad, like burnout or exercise or self-esteem. There’s a lot of audience interaction. People are encouraged to share feedback and their thoughts. That’s usually it…. Oh, and you can buy WW food and books too.

@Pupperoni: It was hit or miss. It reallly depends on your leader. I mean, a lot of the info is sort of anything you could find in Self magazine, but it helps to have audience in put and hear some ideas for troubleshooting. Also, it’s completely catered to WW points and their system, so they make it so that you understand how to eat as far as points go. So that’s helpful.

MissKatelyn’s description is right on the money. And it’s true that it really depends on the leader–some people just inspire you better than others. I’m pretty well-versed on health stuff, so the meetings weren’t that informative for me, but a lot of WWers need them for the accountability and the camaraderie, and if you get a great leader, it can be like going to “diet church.”

But if you are already an online member, usually you can show up at a meeting place and tell them that you’re interested and thinking about becoming a meetings member and they’ll let you sit in on one for free. In fact, I think that you could do that even if you weren’t an online member. Might be worth a phone call.
