So I’m putting together a basket of honeymoon goodies for my BFF for her shower. Initially, I was going to get her a piece of luggage and fill it up with the goodies… so that it was all a cohesive theme. But someone already bought her luggage, so I’m thinking of new ideas.
I’m either thinking of doing a basket with the bunting like this:
But I also want to get her as much off her registry as possible because she obviously wants it, so I’m debating using a laundry basket off her registry. When she opens it, theres the bunting hanging from the inside of the lid and all the goodies are inside, but when closed it looked like a normal laundry basket? Does that makes sense?
These are the items I’m thinking of getting to fill the basket, I might package each “themed” part of the present separately if possible in something reusable
- Beach themed
- Sunscreen & Aloe
- Chapstick with sunblock
- “Just married” flip flops
- “Bride” travel makeup bag
- Beach bag
- Bedroom themed
- Undies with new last name on them (or just married?)
- Massage candle
- Do not disturb sign
- Pregnancy test/condoms
- Generic travel
- Medicines: advil, tums, airborne
- Passport covers
- Luggage tags
What do you think of these? What would you want if you were receiving it? They’re going on their honeymoon about 2 months from when I’ll give her this gift, so I nixed the idea of magazines/snacks for the plane since some of it might be old. She has decorative towels on her registry… can you think of a good way I could somehow incorporate them into this gift? I doubt they’d take towels with them on their trip anyway, but I want to try and sneak in regular registry items too.

@PrincessBride27: Are they going to an all-inclusive? What about refillable go-cups for they’re drinks. You could even put they’re wedding date on them or something cute. For the personalized towels you could do two things: 1) wrap the other presents in the towels or 2) fold them neatly on top of the other presents so when she first opens the laundry hamper she thinks its filled with towels, not everything else!

@PrincessBride27: I like all of the ideas, except the pregnancy test/condoms. One, they’re personal items and I’m not sure I’d be comfortable with anyone buying me stuff like that, especially the p-test. What if they don’t want kids or want to wait; and anyways, it’s not something she could likely use on the honeymoon anyways. And the condoms are extremely personal items where it takes a lot of personal knowledge to buy the right ones. Do either of them have a latex allergy? Does he need magnums? Do they prefer a certain brand? Do they prefer no-nonsense or fun condoms with flavors, glow in the dark, fire and ice, etc? Lubed or unlubricated condoms? Do they even use condoms?
I think a better idea would be a gift card to a sex shop, such as Spencer’s or Love Stuff (that’s a local one, not sure what the options around you are).Then they can choose their own condoms. Maybe scout one out first, as there are some that cater to couples, and some that cater to singles/swingers. Or check online: you could buy them edible body paint, or adult board games, or even a gift set with items like a blindfold and sexy undies.
Also, do you know for sure they’re going to the beach, or what hotel they’ll be in? Maybe add a coupon for free champagne and chocolates in their hotel room, or a romantic dinner for two at a local restaurant.

@PrincessBride27: This is SUCH a cute idea, and I think incorporating the laundry basket and towels from her registry makes so much sense! She obviously doesn’t have to take them with her on her trip, but they still “fit” with your gift idea.

I think include some magazines, maybe a book (like in the picture above) and those cups in the top picture are super cute.. with each of the initials.. plus its something they can keep forever!

I agree with pp that you should leave out condoms and pregnancy test. Everything else sounds good!

Personally I thought the condoms and pregnancy test are funny IF its done as a joke lol otherwise everything sounds great. I would just put the towels on top like a pp said

@AllieBee12: they’re going to Santorini, but it’s not all-inclusive. Awesome idea, though – I love the idea of wrapping the gifts in towels… maybe I can look up some cool oragami type folds!
@ForeverBirds: Ahhh that’s a great idea. I’ll have to find out what their B&B is called and see what I can swing there.
@NLbride: Thank you!
@Charlie89: Thanks! I do too! =)
