I’m surprised she leaves after dinner–who coordinates clean-up?

Our venue coordinator leaves before the end of the night as well (I think after dinner, but maybe it’s after the first dance). They’ve done thousands of weddings and this venue is rated the #2 wedding venue in our state (and the #4 caterer) so I’m sure if they needed to be there longer they would be.

The DJ should be able to help the rest of the reception flow smoothly by announcing any after-dinner events.

Clean-up? I truly have no idea who managed clean-up after my wedding except that it wasn’t me.

Also, the venue staff or your vendors may have questions or issues. Maybe they run out of something, there’s an excessively drunk guest, idk…a million things could happen. My wedding was absolutely perfect from the outside, but there was some behind-the-scenes craziness that I in no way could have managed without a lot of help. I would make sure there’s someone else at the venue who can handle any post-dinner issues or pay whatever extra you have to in order to have her stay through the end of the night.

Someone else will no doubt be in charge at that point. The title varies, but generally it’s the  person in charge of the kitchen or the catering manager. In my experience the venue coordinators mostly act as a liason to you in the time leading up to the wedding.

Truthfully, unless your venue works differently, these people are mostly about making the sale and coordinating your choices and are not really the ones in charge in real time in any case.  I’d ask, but if you are happy with the coverage through dinner, and don’t see the need for additional services I can’t really see why you’d need a DOC after that.

For peace of mind, I’d ask what happens and who will be on site if there are any issues.

The banquet captain will more than likely be your point of contact. They won’t leave you without someone from the venue. If you’re curious, ask her what will happen when she leaves.
