I need advice about flowers! My fiance and I have our first florist meeting next week and this is the one aspect of wedding planning that I am CLUELESS about! How should we prepare for the meeting? Any questions we should be sure to ask? Thanks!

Bring swatches of your colors, and some ideas of what you like/want. The best ones will know the different flowers by name (as well as which variety pairs with which flower). Bring photos of your dress and your venue, the bridesmaids dresses help also.
Maybe ask how long they’ve been in business, if they have insurance, if they’ll deal with cleanup as well as setup.
I was totally unprepared for our florist meeting this weekend and she was able to pull out of my head all the main points I wanted to make, as well as make suggestions of her own that fit in with what I have in mind for the wedding.

@sparklerunner: Bring inspiration pictures. Have a rough idea of how many bouts, corsages, bouquets, centerpieces, etc. you need. Have a rough idea of what colors, types of flowers, and styles of bouquets you like and don’t like. If you have a strict budget, let the florist know that up front.

Bring pictures of bouquets you like, what type of bouquet you are thinking of, a list of your favorite flowers and color swatches.
My appt was pretty easy. I told my florist that I wanted flowers that were red and orange, native to fall season and my wedding was rustic so I wanted something that looked like I went out in a field, picked a bunch of blooms and made my bouquet with little effort. I also told her I wanted lots of texture and fresh flowers with dried grasses. I then told her to surprise me :-). I had brought in a bunch of pictures of what I was looking for texture and a mixed wise. This is what we both loved:
I’ll have different flowers but this is the texture and design we are looking at.
These for the BM’s bouquets:

I think you just need to know how much of each thing you want (how many Bridesmaid or Best Man bouquets, bouts, centerpieces, etc). And maybe some general ideas. They can help you if you don’t know what flowers you want. You can also bring pictures though if you do have an idea of what you want.
