Cake and flowers to HUGE bargins… For the cake, I was getting quotes between $5-8/slice with the $5 range being plain vanilla or chocolate.. A friend of a friend was referred to me.. She works in a bakery but does cakes on the side as well for close friends and family and agreed to do mine. So she is professional but only charging with $3/slice AND I get any of the 15 different types of cake plus fillings etc.

My florist is a good friend of my moms. While I expected her to give us a good deal, she offered to do all the work for free and just pay her for the flowers! The arrangements, centerpieces, coursages, bouqets and boutineres she is doing for our wedding would normally cost around $1,200 and she is doing it for $400 the cost of the flowers!!

The lady, a very distant relative/friend of the family who made my flower girls’ dresses charged me $10 for each (I had 8) and charged me $25 for my gown’s alterations. And she did plenty — took in the bust, changed my dress’ back from zip to laceup, made sleeves for the dress, etcccc… And she did it all (not incl fg ofcourse!) in 24 hrs! We gave her a huge tip though haha.

Also bought my shoes on clearance at DSW! It was about $20 I think. πŸ™‚

The photographer. She’s doing everything for cost because she’s photographed my husband’s family since he was a wee baby.

So far, our photographer!  She was cheaper than the other photogs we were looking at by a few thousand, with an even better package, so I was so happy to find her and actually like her after meeting etc.  Plus, because she was less than what we expected for photog, it freed up room in the budget for a better videographer package!

Hmmm… possibly our photographer! We signed with her just before she re-branded and raised her prices. I love her style and I think she’s a steal to begin with- but then we also got our engagement session thrown in for free.

And then I also got a pair of Badgley Mischka shoes (which I may or may not wear…) normally retailing for almost $300 for a measley $60.

The find I’m most proud of right now, though? My bridal necklace! I couldn’t find a necklace ANYWHERE that was exactly what I was looking for, so I’m having an Etsy designer that I like create it for me with Swarovski crystal and Swarovski pearls. It’s $70 and should be done in a week. That’s WAY cheaper and WAY faster than anything custom they showed me at a bridal salon.

Things I’m getting for free because friends are doing them (but I’ll be getting them gifts so I suppose that doesn’t really count as “free”):

  • The venue (dad’s neighbor’s backyard)
  • Hair and make-up
  • Cake/dessert
  • Ceremony music
  • Officiants
  • Videography (not pro level, just a relative with a camcorder, but that’s fine with me)
  • Welcome dinner food

I’m getting my pro photographer for all day with rights to print digital edited pictures for $800.

And because I’m doing a backyard wedding, I can get my liquor at the Liquor Barn rather than froma caterer. Cuts the cost by more than half.

And we’re getting the room for our welcome dinner for free if we book enough rooms at the hotel – and we can bring in our own food and drink.

Hm. Those are the biggies.

@gelaine22:  I’d love to share with you! This seller does bracelets and earrings as well. I’m considering getting her to make me a pair of earrings to match the necklace when it’s done.

She’s been super helpful and thorough so far, and she’s promised to send me pictures when the necklace is finished to make sure I don’t want anything changed, so as soon as I get a few photos I’ll pass them along. πŸ™‚

For me it’s my accessories!

Shoes: $40

Clutch: $10

Headpiece: $17

Various jewelery: $25

Garter: (should be about) $25

I’ll add another $20 for miscellaneous extras because I’m semi-DIYing a lot of my accessories.

That’s about $140, which is awesome considering we budgeted $200 just for my shoes. I’m proud of myself! ^_^

My junior bridesmaids dresses were $25/ea.

250 invites for $160

Flowergirl dress was $40 and she threw in the petticoat for free (same store as the Jr. Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses – and no sales tax)

My dress alterations were $35

The photographer is $700

My dress was bought from someone who called off her wedding. Never had it altered, never even looked at it after she was forced to pay for it. $249

My reception hall is the best value for me!  Rental fee is $10.75 per person and that includes all alcohol and bartenders.  Most other places we looked wanted $10-$15 per person just for alcohol, another few hundred for bartenders, and a few hundred to rent the hall.
