Pick the 3 most important things and don’t stress about the rest.

I have so many little ideas of things that would be cute details, but at the end of the day they aren’t worth blowing my budget or sanity for.  If my wedding goes forward as-is, it will be perfect.

my mom keeps telling me “use your resources (wedding party) … they are there to help!”

i hate asking people to go out of their way to help, i feel like i’m imposing on their lives….

I’ve heard this advice several times, but ever since the first time someone told me to think of a wedding as just a party that’s how I’ve been framing it and it’s helped with my stress about it a lot.

i’ve been told to make a cut off date the week before the wedding where you are officially done with planning and can hand over everything to the professionals completely and trust it gets done.  And if it doesn’t, that’s ok too at that point.  I’m going with the Wednesday before.

The best thing was my mom told me, “Remember its your day, dont worry about anything but you and your FI”

A few people who had gotten married and had issues over the location have told us “just do what you guys want, your family will come around.”

SO TRUE and I’m glad I didn’t back down from my family pushing for an upstate NY wedding (FI and I wanted a NYC wedding). After the initial stress and shock of having to do it, my family did come around and are happy to be spending the weekend here.

“No one cares about your wedding as much as you do.”

–It sounds harsh, but before being engaged, I found it annoying when girls talked about their planning non-stop and expected huge things out of their bridesmaids.  I tried to keep the wedding chatter to a minimum, responded when asked questions, and took up only those who offered for help.

Oh and it made me feel better when no one gave a hoot about my DIY everything.  They have their own ish on the go.
