Wedding dress for $299 was pretty good – its a sample, would have been $990 new wholesale, probably double that from a bridal salon, and its 100% silk!

The band we had hired.  Only because I work with them.

My husbands wedding band – it’s worth $350 and I got it for $75 off Dealfind.

My ceremony venue cost $35.  It was a park.  It made me feel much better because the reception venue was $1500 so it kind of balanced things out.

My dress.

My wedding is in 2 weeks and my dress arrived too small, for the second time! So I got my money back and went shopping again for an off-the-rack gown, only to find one prettier (and more sparkly) than the original gown. Plus it was $600 cheaper.

some things were meant to be!

@engleman10513:  the veil wasn’t a big deal for me. i’m wearing it for 20 minutes! and my dress is interesting enough.

My wedding band was $450 and my FI’s was under $90. We had about $2,000 budgeted for wedding bands for the two of us.

our venue – $1250 for full day and 1 night, that includes the reception and ceremony site plus 5 cabins and 4 private rooms, sleeping a total of 48 people.

our wedding bands – $20 for him, $50 for me

Our food – $3000 for 60 people, including non alcoholic drinks and pies (instead of wedding cake) I think this is the best deal we could possibly get. We have a huge selection of food including fruit trays and hot appetizers. We have 4 staff people plus an event coordinator in price too. I honestly cannot believe I got such a good price.I was quoted $6000 by other catering companies and there was even less selection.

my dress – $100,I still need to make a petticoat and get it shortened but that should be only about $30 more in materials and my time is free 😀

I am doing mismatched china instead of renting plates and such and so far they cost me about 30cents a plate and 25cents per wine glass, less than renting. Also bought metal utensil (brand new) and they cost me 12cents per piece (93cents per guest), less than rental as well.

I am super proud of myself so far. I still have lots to take care of and I am out money. But my sister owes me a big sum so she is bringing it end of September when she flyes in from Europe. Not all is lost lol

@engleman10513:  So far my best bargain has been my dress.  Retail price $1700, I paid $939, brand new with (Pronovias) tags.  I had alloted $1500 originally to the budget for my dress, so I suspect that the “total” cost of my dress (after alteraions) will be just within budget.  But, still my dress is my biggest bargain.  I would have never paid the full retail price for it, I would have had JBS do it for me, had I not found such a great deal.

My aisle decor for one. I bought everything at the dollar store, minus the ribbon that I got on sale at Michaels.

This is one of the first ones I did. Only thing missing is the ribbon wrapped around the tube and the filling for the pot.

Other than that my e-ring. It was a gift from a relative so Fiance only had to pay duty on it(he lives in canada and it was shipped from the states). This relative is also letting us have the ceremony there for free and letting us stay there.

I guess my dress?  I was stunned that it was only $500 so I snapped it up! Of course alterations added a bit to the total cost, but overall I spent way less than anticipated and didn’t feel like I had to compromise.

Ohh I love this thread!  Its great when you can get awesome deals!  Our DJ was free, he came with the venue so that was a HUGE savings!  My uncle’s partner is an interior designer so he’s doing a lot of our planning in that he’s finding a way to make all of my expensive visions happen for a fraction of the cost and his services are free too!

Also, I’m using ETSY for my veil so instead of paying $350 I’m paying $40 and my bridesmaids gifts are coming from there as well so I’m looking at spending a total of $125 on gifts for all 4 of them plus my future mother in law.  ETSY is amazing!  I was looking at virtually the same gifts for my girls at a local jewellery store and it was going to cost me about the same but for EACH gift.

We’re also doing Michaels invites which saves a good $500 when the price is compared with most stationary companies.

Good luck to everyone with all of their money saving projects.  I can’t wait to read more of them.
