We’ve mostly discussed what we want and don’t want: what we each visualize about the day, how they differ and where we can meet in the middle (and how much we agree!).

    • I have my dress, but that was only because there was only 1 time in the next year my Mom, sister and I would all be in the same city.

    • We have a DJ, because my FH asked his best friend (who is a DJ) if he would prefer to be best man on DJ. He picked DJ, and we laughed & agreed.

    • My cousin’s husband (and a former teammate of mine) is an amazing artsy wedding photographer, and offered his services as soon as he heard about our engagement.

We just booked our venue Friday – our first no-family-strings-attached booking!

I’m right there with sarahbabs. We’ve got the venue, and that has ceremony & reception spaces, tables/chairs/linens/dishes, food, cake, cocktail hour… and a caterer/venue coordinator, which is all the on-site coordination I think we’ll need. We have a rough draft of the menu and cake, and I know where to go for any incidental rentals we might need. Other than that, I think all we have in our sights are vague commitments from friends to iPod DJ, and make delicious beer. Other than that, it’s all pretty much just ideas of things we could accomplish!

@TankGirl:  I’m happy that we ended up doing it that way.  We initially were looking at a vineyard where were would have had to rent everything but restrooms, and that would have been so much stress for me (I’m not the most organized person!) Now I like to joke that even if we don’t get anything else, we’re getting married – even if we all wear jeans and our guests hum us down the aisle lol.  The fact that, no matter what, it is really happening is such a weight off my shoulders 🙂
