i’ve limited all of those things or eliminated them completely (i.e. soda). i’ve also strictly limited my carb intake.

lol i’ve given up all of those things… it sucks! i’m trying to lose weight, but really haven’t seen any results despite working out 5 days/week and eating around 1500 cals/day. πŸ™ i hope i’m just gaining muscle, because i do feel a lot better overall. just giving up all of the junk food made me feel way less bloated. πŸ™‚

I gave up processed foods. I splurge here and there for special occasions, but in my regular diet I cut them out except for a little bit of yogurt, whole grain breads, whole wheat pasta, cheese, and nut butters (peanut & almond). Nothing else comes from a box or package. I mainly just eat fresh fruits, veggies and meats.

I thought it was going to be a lot harder than it was. It sounds inconvenient and difficult, but it really hasn’t been. I am a carbs/sugar girl so I was worried – but honestly I don’t crave ANYthing at all anymore, EVER. Its amazing and I feel so much better. I’ve lost around 28 lbs and am exactly where I want to be πŸ™‚

I plan to continue this as more of a lifestyle now.

I gave up soda almost two years ago and SO do not miss it. I occasionally will have it in a mixed drink when I go out, and every once in a while I’ll buy one and sip from it but the taste is just so nasty that I generally can’t drink even 1/5 of a full one.

I limit myself on candy, cookies, chips and sugar. I’ve got a major sugar addiction I’m still trying to break – I am one who can’t really do the “in moderation” thing, so I just have to not buy things or if I do, buy them in a one-off package (like a single-serving bag of chips if that’s what I really want).

Ice cream is the one thing I refuse to give up πŸ˜€ I compromise by purchasing the minis that have one serving in them and trying to make it last at least 3 servings.

I’ve limited lots of bad stuff–soda (which I naturally limited anyway), sugar/candy/cookies/etc., bad carbs, etc. I try to eat whole wheat/whole grain, lots of water, fruits and veggies, protein, etc. I just want to get rid of this little pouch I have. :

@NurseMandie:  hmm yeah that makes sense. πŸ™‚ i wish i had measured from the start so i would know that i was making a difference! good for you for working so hard, sounds like you’re getting results. πŸ™‚ i give myself 1 day on the weekend to have dessert so that i don’t feel like i’m totally missing out. although, the longer i go without having it the less i crave it so maybe i’m shooting myself in the foot!

I approached things more in terms of moderation and healthy lifestyle.  I have a soft drink every now and then (less than once a month) and when I do get one, I get ginger ale or sprite.  I don’t eliminate anything from my diet, but I focus on eating processed foods or junk foods in moderation.  Sure, I have chips every now and then, but not every day at lunch.  I have cookies, but not daily.  If I crave something sweet I have a piece of fruit or a glass of chocolate skim milk.

Oh, and all of this went completely out the window when I got pregnant!  Haha, I’ll have to buckle down when I regain control of my body.  Baby is overdue already, so I’m not denying myself anything at the moment due to me being miserable!

I’ve never been a soda drinker, so I wouldn’t say I gave that up. But I have given up all processed foods, grains and dairy. In no way to do I feel starved or that I’m limiting myself. I eat a ton of fruit, so I still have plenty of sugar, but in a much healthier way.

I don’t eliminate anything from my diet.  I’m a believer in all things in moderation.  If I want a cookie or some ice cream now and then, that’s okay.  I just can’t eat them every night.

Alcohol. A glass of wine with dinner or a cocktail here and there really adds calories.

@NurseMandie:  For crunch, I definitely had success with low-fat pretzels, popcorn (I get plain and add my own seasonings) and lots of carrots. So many carrots!
