- Wedding: September 2014
I think that this is plenty! My plan for my BMs is to gift each a canvas bag with a robe for the morning of, a cardigan to wear with their dress if it gets cold, a book I think they would like, 2 handmade mugs (made by my very talented FI) and a heartfelt thank you note. I feel like these are all things that can be used the day of and after. I probably won’t spend more than $75 on each gift and I’m not buying their dresses or paying for their halr / make-up for them. I am being very flexible so if they need to spend less, they can do so.
I’m all for appropriately thanking people for taking so much time/effort/money into my wedding, but I also assume that they want to be doing so, and they are not expecting to be paid back. IMO, I feel like the “spend as much on your BMs as they spend” is almost the same as “pay for your plate” as a guest and I can’t say I fully agree with either.
