I’d be upset, but it wouldn’t stop me from still using the name too!

ecoast- I’ll be very excited to share with you once little Lemon arrives!  I haven’t seen anyone using it on any birth boards or anything, and yet here so many people have brought it up as an option.  Weird huh?  Maybe because we all share a certain aesthetic?

@Mrs. DG: Yeah, it wasn’t so much name stealing, so I should have been more specific with that.  I was bummed for a little bit, but most of our lives our tastes have been so similar I shouldn’t have been surprised.  Her #2 name is also my #2 baby boy name, so hopefully I’ll have a little one before she has another and uses that, too!  LOL

And I can’t wait to hear Lemon’s name, I’m so excited because she’ll be here this month!  🙂

If I was in your situation, yes I would be upset too.  And that’s why I will keep “my names” to myself.  I already have the BEST girl’s name in mind.  Tongue out

Yeah, BabyMighty actually has a very common first name.  We (ironically) have the opposite reaction whenever we hear someone else has that name: we’re thrilled!  It’s like “Did you hear that?  That’s HER name!”  LOL  We’re dorks like that.

I would actually feel honored if a friend of mine used my name to name their daughter.  DH and I have gone through a list of names and some of them where nixed because one of us knew of someone by that name and didn’t want our child to be associated with that name.  I know it sounds bad. You know, you don’t name your kid the same name as someone who used to bully you as a kid. (well at least I don’t. ) lol

So to look at it that way, be honored they are using your name.

Plus, it would be different if I told people what we were naming our kid and they turned around to stole it for their own kid.  But since I’m at least a year way, I don’t think they could steal it.

Right now my potential names are not on the top 100, but I may change it if it does start to get popular.

    I feel your pain.

My sister…..sort of the black sheep of the family did this to me.  I can remember growing up we discussed what we would name our kids when we had them.  I told her about my love of both the names Kiera and Jade.  So can you guess what her first born was called????  Thats right, Kiera Jade.

Mind you my sister has pretty much proved that she doesn’t care about me being in her life.  She got married overseas, and never bothered to tell me.  I found out about 3 months later from my other sister.  We haven’t spoken at all since I found out about her daughter.  Unles you count a really rude comment she left on my facebok page which left me that upset I promptly deleted my facebook account so I knew that I would never have to deal with that again.

Anyway, a few years later I fell pregnant with my first.  I found out I was expecting a girl.  I trawled books and sites and made up a name list.  I left Jade on the list seeing as it was the middle name of a cousin she may never meet.  I also had on my short list Ava-Rose which I loved the sound of and also loved the idea it is hypentated like my name is. And the third choice was Gabrielle.  After much discussion my other half was worried that Ava and Gabrielle were just too old world.  He loved Jade, and I was unsure because it is the middle name of a cousin she might never meet.

In the end, I thought stuff it, I have always loved Jade, and Jade is what we named her.  And it suits her down to the ground.
