for a Catholic wedding, any other religious wedding that involves multiple readings, songs, and prayers, or just a wedding ceremony that has somehting unusual going on.. I think it’s pretty necessary. If its a short wedding.. then nope no need. Also if your reception is in a separate location than the ceremony, it’s a nice place to put directions for those who forgot to bring them.

I’m sort of on the fence about them. It’s nice for people who don’t know the bridal party. But i do see a lot pf people saying that no one looked at them. I’m only doing programs because I want to provide fans for the guests as it’s an outdoor Aug wedding. And it’s a great way to do it.

PixelMePretty, until this board,I thought the same thing!
flyawaycricket, nope reception in same location.
I think I decide a no on this, unless for some reason I finish all the other wedding planning early and feel like I still need something to do! I love being crafty, but I do have so many crafts to complete already.
If anybee feels like posting their programs however, I’d still love to see them!

@Nona99: Ceremony Program = A most loathed and disliked DIY project for Maid/Matron of Honor and BM’s alike also a complete waste of paper since youre ceremony isn’t an opera…people don’t need the play by play nor the cast list.
Humorous and realistic response. I’ll have a small wedding and was wondering what to do about a program myself. It might benefit some family members and people who don’t know some names of new in laws. Otherwise….I was just gonna put a sudoku puzzle on it.

@jeza_s:
I wanted a program, and as a guest I like getting one because it tells you what to expect at the ceremony, and who everyone is. I like to see what the names of the parents of my friends are, and who is doing what, etc..
I had fun designing my wedding program. We are having a Destination Wedding beach wedding and I went with a 5 petal fan program (functional and fun) with ribbon. It was a little bit of a splurge but totally worth it. I am framing mine after the wedding.
I will link a pic of one similar to ours from the website:
