17 years ago I was an highschool exchangestudent, class of ’95 in the U.S. Since facebook I got back in touch with all my american highschool friend. We have our own class of ’95 page.
Two day’s ago, sad news, one of the class of ’95 was killed in a car accident.
The people of my class ar now talking about doing a money memorial as a class.
Never heard of this? Anyone here that can explain?

First, I’m so sorry for the loss. It always hurts to lose people, even if you weren’t close with them anymore.
The money memorial could be a couple of things. It could be a collected donation that will start a scholarship or fund to be donated to a current student of your high school. Or, it could be a collected fund that will purchase some kind of memorial for the deceased classmate on school property (a tree, a bench, a plaque, etc.)

Okay, that makes sense! Thank you so much for explaining. I wasn’t sure and in the facebook convo it feels kinda odd now to ask about what it means …
Sad story indeed, My thought are with his wife, child of two years and his family.

No problem – we had something similar happen with my class (2 boys in a car accident together 🙁 ) and did a memorial tree for both of them.
