I think a “normal” gift for us would be $40-65, so small would be around $20

Around that 20-30 dollar range. Like a picture frame or something.

As long it’s something they want, then it’s a good gift!  I generally consider a small gift anything under $50, and I wouldn’t really go below $20.  I think what you did sounds appropriate.

I honestly don’t think I would have sent a gift in this situation. However, when DH and I give a ‘small’ wedding gift we give $50. In other situations, like a birthday or Christmas, a ‘small’ gift to us is about $20.

I think those ‘odd’ things on a gift registry are usually very useful. I almost never think of the person who gifted us something just because I’m using it so I don’t think it matters too much. I can’t even remember who got us what except for ‘my’ keurig because I’m obsessed with it and a few personal things like my ring holder.

Under $30 is a small gift.  People give gifts out of a desire to give. The fact you sent him something will be very much appreciated I am sure.

$50 for me but for everyone and their finances that could be a different amount

I’d consider something between $30-50 a small gift

$50-75 from the two of us would be a suitable small gift.

I normally consider a “small” wedding gift something not less than $20 & not more than $30. We are fairly broke college students, so small to us really is SMALL lol. A normal wedding gift would be between $50 & $100.

A “small” gift outside of weddings would normally be between $10-$20. A normal gift for an occasion like a birthday or Christmas, it would be at least a $20 gift, up to $50.

@bizzybethbee:  was it the amount of the gift or the actual gift you picked?  In theory, if it’s on the registry they either got cohersed into registering for it by the registry consultant, or really want what’s on there.  I’m sure the gesture will be appreciated – as most in the hive will attest to guests who didn’t bother to even bring a card with them.

My favorite thing on our registry is a $12 stool. So sad that I didn’t get it!

I guess $15 constitutes as “a small something” in a circumstance such as you describe.
