I’ve been an active hive member since 2007 but I’m using a different name for this post because I want to introduce myself as a second year PhD student. As part of a research project focused on online communities, I have been studying weddings in addition to planning my own. I have found Weddingbee to be the most helpful resource in my own planning so I’m hoping you will be able to help me out in my studies.
I have been pondering the definition of “wedding”. Here is where I could use some help for my PhD research. What is a wedding?
Thanks for your feedback, I can’t wait to see what the hive comes up with! Of course, I will treat any and all responses as annoymous.

A wedding is the ceremony which celebrates the beginning of a marraige union. Pretty simple, right?

Yeah – I’m with snake. A wedding is a ceremony that celebrates the start of a marriage and is a forum for the public expression of the commitment between the bride and groom.

So, how does a wedding come to be?

A wedding is a ancient tradition that unites a couple as one. Simple or lavish, private or surrounded by friends and family, it’s start of a union that’s henceforth acknowledged by society.

We don’t allow people to conduct research on the Weddingbee boards. I’ll close this post but will leave the responses up so that you can see them.
