It’s an engagement ring.  There are a lot of abbreviations on here that you have to get used to!

Here is a huge list of them!

Shorthand for engagement ring. People like to abbreviate everything online, while others don’t use them at all.

Don’t feel bad-I also needed to figure out what e-ring was too.  I’m still stumped about what Fiance stands for-I know it’s referring to our husband to be but why FI?

@sue, it’s short for future intended which is a very old fashioned way of saying fiance, since fiance is a fairly new term.

@sueanddemetrius:

I always just thought it was short for FIance, but someone recently said that it stood for “future intended,” which sounds kind of weird to me.

Edit: Also, even though I know what e-ring actually stands for, it always makes me think of a virtual (electronic) ring, lol.

Thanks ladies! All the others like Maid/Matron of Honor, FOB make perfect sense but Fiance just doesn’t seem to. I kind of like FH for future husband better but I will go with the flow…Fiance it is!

I’ll admit I really don’t know what “DH” stands for–I keep reading it as “Dear Husband”, but don’t know if that’s correct! I also though Fiance stood for FIance, and just figured out what SO meant….yeah, I’m pretty new to the boards!

@Eight6Eleven: Yup Darling Husband = Dear Husband.

It took me forever to figure out that TTC = trying to conceive and TTD = trash the dress! I had NO idea what I was reading for a while….

@sueanddemetrius: You can say FH, people on here say whatever they want.  Personally, I can’t stand Darling Husband so I always say husband.

@Ember78: shut the front door – I had never heard that Future Intended thing before! I too thought it was just an abbreviated FIance and found it weird, hahahaha…. amazing!

It took me a bit to figure out e-ring too – I kept seeing people talk about it and thought it was some weird message board thing (this was when I first got engaged and was on The Knot because I hadn’t found WB yet) and that these crazy people on the internet must all be internet nerds because they wanted electronic-rings (like electronic-mail=e-mail), hahahahaha….. I laughed at myself for a looooong time when I finally “got” it.

Hahaha @MissAsB I thought you were saying that you couldn’t stand your husband so there was no way you were going to call him your “dear” husband. haha. woops!!
