I think all wedding dresses are “designer” kind of because of how they are made and sold through boutiques and made to order. Possibly only David’s Bridal isn’t. But of course some dress designers like Pnina Tonrai are so obviously “designer” becuase of the price level and “couture” factor (quotation marks beause I don’t see what’s so upscale about her lingerie designs :P)

I have no idea who/what made my dress. The sample dress was my size and had never been worn, so I didn’t have to order it. I love it and that’s what matters!

Yes, that is a designer who specializes in wedding gowns. However in general I think that when most people refer to “designer gowns” they usually mean high end/luxury designers like Elie Saab, Zuhair Murad, etc.

I definitely wanted a Reem Acra gown because I love her styles. Certain designers have certain looks/styles so it’s easier to find something you want just based on who made it sometimes!

I hear “designer” I think of designers with specfic styles. Inbal Dror is sexy and sleek, Hayley Page is fun and girly, Justin Alexander is classic but with a modern twist, etc. She may have been proud because she loves that one designer’s style.

I think of designer dresses as those you don’t find in your normal bridal salon unless you go high end. Reem Acra, Vera Wang, Elie Saab, Jenny Packam, to name a few…And then of course the big houses such as Chanel, Dior, Givenchy, etc. I don’t consider Pnina a designer brand, just expensive.

My dress was by David Tutera, which did not impress me in the least.  I just feel like he’s stamping his name on something and I just don’t like it.

I liked the design of my dress though so I got over it!

theshannondee:  I would take a free Sondra Chelly dress over a Pnina any day!

Re: two dresses above.

These are what you’re forced to wear if you get married or go to prom in Hell.
