I have a large tulle ball gown that I have chosen for my wedding. Our wedding date is next June 28th and I was wondering for all of you that have had your wedding and who wore a large ball gown, how comfortable they are. I already know it’s going to be heavy and probably uncomfortable but I want honest opinions on how thier day went. I’m willing to sacrifice comfortability for this dress 🙂

Mine was tight (my mom went crazy wth laces) but other than that it was super comfortable. I had fun twirling the hoops all day. And, it actually wasn’t very heavy! If you have hoops and are doing a garter toss watch out though… if he lifts it up too high things will not go well!

I wore an A-line and it was hot! I had to take a break to get some air on my legs. It was also a bit difficult to dance.

For me it was worth it because I figured no dress would be completely comfortable. My dress wasn’t that big though. How heavy is yours?

Mine was ten pounds, and I never noticed at all! I didn’t get hot, and I didn’t notice it was heavy. (And I danced during the entire reception.) You’ll be so excited on your wedding day that you’ll feel like you’re walking on air no matter what 🙂
And if your dress is tulle, it’s probably not even all that heavy. I don’t think you have anything to worry about 🙂

my dress is heavy lol when i went to try it on the other day the consultant could barely move it from outside the changeroom to inside lol The bodice is beaded so that puts some weight and it’s tulle with lots of crinilon. I love the ball gown look adn would rather not remove layers, but because it’s an outside ceremony I do worry about the weight and size, however it doesn’t stop the fact that I LOVE this dress!!!!

That dress is gorgeous!! I didn’t wear a ball gown so have no advice, but you are going to look stunning! 😀

@holister: Awesome. If it is strapless, make sure it is tight on top so it won’t be slipping around and feel heavy

My dress was tulle and lace and VERY heavy. I loved every minute I wore it, but I changed into my grandmother’s much lighter 1950’s style wedding dress halfway through the dancing. I had always planned to change dresses. The dress change was motivated by tradition rather than comfort, but it was lovely be able to change into something lighter after dragging the weight around all day.
