@Kat:  you totally ignored what I said. No GEM QUALITY moissanite exists in nature. The synthetic silicon carbidd is altered yo make it more diamond like. Iam not rude, just honest. I totally get it that those who have sims want to believe its more than it is.

Thats human nature. However spreading misinformation does not help those who come to this site for accurate info. Moissanite is a beautul diamond sim. Great bling for the buck but trying to equate it to a valuable gemstone, natural or synthetic is ludicrous and plain inaccurate.

@MunsterCat:  I’m saying that your comment about morphological similarities is based on your misresding of a scientific paper that was referring to normal synthetic SiC. I didn’t mention this in the first thread it was posted it in, but since you and others are mentioning it repeatedly I thought I should point that out. The C&C product that is meant to look like a diamond doesn’t resemble regular synthetic SiC, it has been carefully “edited” to look otherwise.

It is as similar as a diamond and a hunk of carbon.

OP: Moissanite is awesome, it is it’s own gem. The fact that some people don’t want to believe that isn’t because they have done more research than the rest of us or are somehow “less biased” (couldn’t be further from the truth), but because they have their own agenda for hating on other peoples possessions & decisions which make them & their diamonds look “less valuable”. Idk what these ladies FI’s spent on their ring, but my moissanite ring was just less than 5k. In what world is that valueless?

@joya_aspera:  I posted it just once here (and only in this thread), have no clue what you are talking about.

What is a regular synthetic SiC? Some crystalline type of SiC that you personaly consider regular?

Do you disagree with Dr. Nassau? Please write us a scientific paper on that! I would love to read!

@Kat:  Accuse me of “idiocy and uncouthness” for sticking to the facts all you want, but that does not change the fact moissanite does not meet the legal criteria of being a gem. In its C&C form, it is more appropriately referred to as a jewel.

@MunsterCat:  synthetic SiC is not new, it is an industrial mineral that has been in use for a long time. Just do a quick search on it, as I suggested earlier. I posted a photo of an attractive example of it that collectors enjoy, but usually it will be in the form of a fine black grit.

I was saying that you were posting that inaccurate conclusion repeatedly, not repeatedly within this thread. I saw it in another thread as well.

What is there to disagree with, with Dr. Nassau? You merely misunderstood him.

@joya_aspera:  I wasn’t even aiming my post at you, but you’re never one to turn down a confrontation behind your computer screen. Whatever, dude. Not my style.

@joya_aspera:  Have you even read his article? He is talking about faceted near colourless synthetic SiC. What can we talk about if you can’t even read scientific info presented to you?

@MunsterCat:  What is the specific claim from that article you think I am contesting?
