The food will probably matter more to your guests the night of the wedding, but the pictures are what you’ll have for the rest of your life.  Unless you’re foodies, I say pictures- I’m sure your guests have had mediocre meals before, and that’s not the real reason they’re there anyway.

FOOD for sure!!! I agree with julies1949 a good photographer can make things artsy and find the unexpected spots for ops. But, FOOD you cant fake or toy with.

Does the venue that provides the great photo ops have a reputation for food that is not so desirable, or is it just that the other reception venue has a reputation for better food? Are you able to have a tasting at the venue with the better photo ops? If you decide that you do like the food there, then I wouldn’t hesitate to have my wedding at the venue with the better photo ops. However, I would not want to select a venue where the food was just not good.  I had a gorgeous venue, but one of the comments I heard over and over from my guests was how amazing the food was.

@Willow1991: Well, if the gorgeous venue has GOOD food — just not amazing food — I say go for the beautiful venue!

I’d say food.  You can get great photos anywhere (and could stop somewhere else on the way to the reception that would have particular photo op spots you might be looking for).

As a guest I’m definitely going to have to go with FOOD.  Hands down.  The food makes the wedding for a guest, lol!

I have to agree that food is more important. A good photographer knows how to take great pics and make ordinary things beautiful.

Pictures, hands down. People probably won’t remember the food a few months after your wedding, but you’ll have your wedding photos for forever. And if this gorgeous venue has good food, then who will know the difference? Just don’t tell your guests that you considered a place with better food. 🙂

Contrary to most here, I’d say photos. Maybe I’m just a mean person, haha, but my priority (and the bulk of my budget) is going to photos so those are my priority over the food.
