Since we had to change the reception venue, we now have the opprotunity to book a DJ for the evening, which means I need to come up with a list of songs.
Our first dance is To make You Feel My Love by Garth Brooks (sweetie picked it)
The cup cake song (we dont’ have cake cutting) is How Sweet it Is by James Taylor.
And that is all I’ve got.
Any suggestions for what you simply MUST have played at your reception, either for general dancing or a "special" dance?

@Miss Starlet – we’re also playing Dream a little dream by Mama Cass, and our processional is the quartet playing Bittersweet Symphony!
Our first dance is Fly me to the Moon by Sinatra, and I plan on having a lot of Otis Redding in there. I want the cocktail hour to have a lot of Johnny Cash as well. And I really want If you want to be happy (for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife…) played, but don’t know how to incorporate it. I just think it’s cute and funny.
God Only Knows by the Beach Boys, Somewhere over the rainbow (the hawaiian version, I forget the singers name), and although everyone plays it, I’m Yours by Jason Mraz. I’m still working on the rest.

Brother Iz sings the hawaiian Version of Over The Rainbow.
Like the idea of "if you want to be happy" That is just too funny!

Thanks, ladies – we’re making a playlist for our wedding so we need all the help we can get!
On the way to work today, I heard "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder. I think it’s an incredibly happy song that must be played at our wedding. How can you not feel good listening to Sir Duke?!

OHHH! I love Otis Redding! Cigarettes & Coffee and Try A Little Tederness are on my playlist.
Also, I forgot, as a tribute to my daughters:
"Love Is All Around Us" aka The Mary Tyler Moore theme song, performed by Husker Du!!!!

we FINALLY picked our first dance song last night: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus "Your Guardian Angel"
Also making the list: Hardnox "Let the Bass Go" and Mims "Move (If You Wanna)" which are 2 songs that were in heavy rotation when we were on our Hawaii trip when he proposed–they’re pretty fun songs, B-52’s "Love Shack", Jason Mraz "We Belong Together", The Romantics "What I Like About You", Troggs "Wild Thing", Alient Ant Farm "Smooth Criminal", and Boys II Men "Motownphilly". Haha 🙂
@Miss Starlet: oohh now I want to add "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" too!
