I love Thanksgiving! I’ll be 39 weeks pregnant, so I’m hoping LO hangs out long enough for me to enjoy it. We live in the DC area but are from Indiana and Florida.
Tofurky with roasted potatoes, carrots, onions
Mashed potatoes and mushroom gravy
Mashed sweet potatoes
I make everything from scratch, except the tofurky, because I’m vegan. It’s all so stinkin’ yummy.

Tagging this for ideas, I don’t have all of our sides figured out yet lol. This is what I’ve got so far:
stuffing (apple sausage)
mashed potatoes (I like using yukon golds)
sweet potato cobbler
cheesy broccoli casserole
Still have to figure out some more veggie dishes, bake some rolls (yeast rolls maybe?) and do some sort of cranberry thing.

We’re probably staying home this year since we’re still recovering from the wedding. We will likely extend an invitation to his parents and my dad & stepmom to join us but it should still be a quiet affair.
Dinner will consist of Roasted Buttered Herb Turkey, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes & gravy, stuffing (haven’t decided on the recipe yet), and chocolate bourbon pecan pie. I make everything from scratch for Thanksgiving. It’s my time to shine in the kitchen because even though my husband cooks most meals year round, he hasn’t quite mastered getting a large meal with many sides together at one time.
We are also attending a Thanksgiving party with friends where I will make a second chocolate bourbon pecan pie and, depending on what meat I can get hands on, bison or elk meatball poppers (meatballs stuffed with mozarella and jalapenos then wrapped in bacon and glazed with teriyaki sauce.)

@jesssamesssa: haha! I don’t know how to describe it. It’s really cute, and it comes stuffed with stuffing. It doesn’t taste like turkey, from what I’m told, but my omni husband, uncle, cousin, sister-in-law and neices say it’s almost good– and eat a slice along with their turkey. Well, my husband likes it (it’s been Thanksgiving for the past 4 years). It’s not a block of tofu or anything like that. Hm, clearly I need to prepare a better answer! It’s worth a try if you have some vegetarian friends!

@Eckle: yum! Apple cheesecake!!! I found a receipe for EggNog Cheesecake today. I text my husband about it. He loves EggNog. He told I have to make it for Thanksgiving now. That would be 4 desserts. Oh boy!

@jesssamesssa: The cheesecake is technically FI’s birthday cake. The poor guy’s birthday is black friday and he works retail 🙁
