Basically it means you’re a healthy weight (within normal BMI usually) but you have a high body fat percentage.

I usually think of it as people who are thin but not in shape — so they are flabby even though they’re not large.

Yep. The opposite scenario is “fat but fit.” Tara Parker-Pope wrote a column about it in the NYTimes Health section not too long ago.

It means people that look “skinny” but are unfit

ME. It’s someone who’s thin looking but really out of shape. I am horribly skinny fat. It’s not really a good thing to be, though. People with an “overweight” BMI but who work out regularly actually have a lower chance of heart problems and premature death than those with “normal” BMI who don’t work out, so I should really work on changing that.

strength training is the most important..then cardio….(strength acrually works both)…i think Fiance is skinny fat ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m skinny fat; I am very thin but I have a little jiggle also. I am just not toned. If my jeans are too tight i’ll have some muffin top, my arms have jiggle as well as my booty and thighs.

I am 5’2 and 98 lbs. So I am very tiny but also have some jiggle!Tongue Out


I’m working on it though! Trying to get fit!
