It was our 6 month anniversary. My bf lives in NYC and I always drive in to see him since I still live at home. Parking in Manhattan is a NIGHTMARE and at a minimum takes me 45 minutes to an hour to circle around looking for a parking spot. I came into the city and my bf was standing in an empty parking spot at the end of October dressed in a suit with a bouqet of flowers. He had been standing in the spot for 30 minutes and some car got mad and tried to back into him!

@smiles731: Geezus, that’s pretty amazing. Saving a parking spot in NY is no easy feat.
One of the sweetest things my Fiance did was when I came down with a horrible case of the flu, and everything I was eating I was vomiting back up except chicken congee. We ran out of chicken and medicine, and there was a crazy crazy thunderstorm going on. He left in the rain in the dead of night to drive to supermarket which was about a 30 minute commute to go get the chicken and make it for me. He also didn’t want to disturb me sleeping so when he was confused about which kind of flu medicine to get for me, so he ended up buying one of every kind to be sure I got the right one. Love the man!

As a wedding gift, we received a gift certificate toward the purchase of a stay at B&B that could be redeemed in any one of hundreds of locations worldwide. As senior pastor of a church and a very involved dad to his minor children who live with us half of the time, DH is quite busy and does not often have much time for me. I told him that what I really wanted from him was some romantic time alone, and I asked him to take the certificate and plan something all on his own, based on his availability and that I wanted him to completely surprise me. I only asked that he give me sufficient time to pack for the adventure and to make sure the trip would not interfere with any commitment I may have.
A Type-A, detail-oriented planner who always likes to be prepared and who also always wants to know everything, I found it extremely difficult to sit back and allow him to pull off the surprise. That fall, seeing how few “free” weekends were left in the year, I kept worrying that we were going to run out of time for us to get away. However, Darling Husband completely surprised me by arranging to take off two days early in the week. He told me on a Friday that we would be leaving Sunday immediately after church, and he provided advice on what type of clothing to pack. I had no idea where we were going or what we would be doing. However, Darling Husband knows me quite well and did a fabulous job of selecting the type of elegant, four-star property, with amazing food, beautiful views, and amenities (such as spa suites with oversized, whirlpool tubs and fireplaces and king-sized, four-poster beds) that he knew I would love! He made special dinner reservations for one of the nights we were there, and he booked a couples massage for us, too! It was SOOO much fun to be surprised, and he did a magnificent job!
