have you all noticed that there are posts where someone will type “can/’t” or something along those lines? Not posting to be rude but I’m genuinely curious why it is done. Is it a cultural thing? Does “/” mean the same as ” ‘ “?

I thought that meant “can/can’t” … doesn’t it?

I always assumed it was a weddingbee formatting glitch that happens when an apostrophe is entered on certain platforms. Something to do with smart vs. dumb quotes and how it’s converted to HTML.
ETA: Here’s an article about it: http://www.puravidamultimedia.com/apostrophe-and-backslash-error-in-wordpress-its-magic-quotes/

I usually assume it’s a typo since the ‘ and / keys are near each other, but if it happens often then I agree with TheGridMonster:
it’s probably an HTML conversion thing.

I’ve had that happen when I post on weddingbee sometimes. Something to do with HTML. Also, this website has insane autocorrect, so I usually give people the benefit of the doubt.

ooohhhhh!!! Ok! I wasn’t aware of that. Thank you. Glad I asked because I thought it had something to do with language that I wasn’t aware of.
