I am *very* close to my weight loss goal for the wedding, and have been holding off on even putting my dress on until I get there…..I signed up for boot camp which starts next week, and I hope to be at my goal by end of June/mid-July. In your experience what is basically the “drop-dead” date for me to start my fittings? I am not doing anything major like changing the neckline, etc, just taking it in along the bodice, adding a bustle, and having the hem taken up. It’s an organza dress with no lace or beading and I was told by the shop the alterations would be pretty easy.

I dunno my wedding is june 2 and i still haven’t had mine altered. I need mine hemmed up, he said it would take 2 weeks.

I was told 5-6 weeks, but I’m having a ton done to it, including but not limited to:
adding a bustle
adding a crinoline
sewing in cups
ordered extra length bc sample was ever so slightly short with shoes on – so might have to be hemmed.
Wedding is beginning of July and I go for my first fitting towards the end of May.

Wedding was on Saturday and I picked my dress up from the final fitting that Monday.

I’d ask the shop, it’s probably more a matter of when they can get you in the schedule and how long it’ll take them to actually do the alterations than anything us in bee-world can predict. Maybe they could do the hem and bustle and wait to take in the bodice until pretty close to time?

My shop said they like to have a three week turnaround time for wedding dress alterations.
