@russian_doll:  Seriously! I really don’t have a problem with getting older or with the number getting higher, I just have such a hard time figuring out how it happened! I know that it’s a super-cliched thing to say, but how did it go by so fast?!

12 years. I’m 22 and he’s 33 (nearly 34). He did recently get asked if I was his daughter. Normally people don’t think there’s that much of a gap, so we were confused.

He’s almost 10 years older than me (I just turned 26, he’ll be 36 in December)…but when I first met him I thought he was in his late 20s/early 30s. I’ve almost always dated older guys though.

Here’s a kicker: my mom is 52 and my new stepdad is 28! Yep, he’s actually younger than my older brother, and my soon-to-be-husband, hahah.

@russian_doll:  I’m 15 years older than my husband – I’m 53, he’s 38. It works!

@russian_doll:  Thanks for this thread. It’s nice to see that there are plenty of non-traditional age differences. I’m lucky that few people think I’m much over 40 but I really don’t care what their impressions are. Once we went on vacation to Mexico and when we were checking into the resort the very young woman behind the counter asked if I was his mother…I almost told her that yes, I was and we were here for a wonderful romantic vacation, just to see what she’d do with that. Now that we’re married I feel a lot more confident if stupid people feel the need to make such comments.

He is *almost* exactly 2 years older. Our birthdays are 13 days apart, but mine comes first. ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a 16 yr old daughter who can be typically very self-conscious. About a week before our wedding this summer all 3 of us (daughter, Fiance and I) were in Target. As we were checking out I told DD and Fiance to go first – he was paying-and I was buying something separately on my mom’s credit card. I gave my Fiance a gift card I found in my purse and he just took it and handed it to the cashier. Well she starte scolding him for not saying “thank you” to me. I told her he didn’t have to thank me – he earned most of the money ha ha. She kept it up and said to him, “You should never forget to say ‘thank you Mom!'” My daughter wanted to die. I told the cashier I was marrying this man in a week and she might want to think before she spoke. Fortunately my DD loves her new step-dad and was able to laugh about it later. UGH!
