Mine is 1.41.  I agree with what others have written, it depends on …

1. What you can afford
2. The look/size you prefer on your own hand/finger.  Try them on!  Also carat is based weight not size.  So the cut counts.
3.  Where you live.  It seems larger rings are more in fashion on the East Coast and Southern California… where at least 2 ct. seems to be the average.

I’m not engaged yet but i know through my mum that my boyfriend has bought my engagement ring! It is a .70 carat with side diamonds, colour is H, cut is excellent, clarity is S12. In Australian measuring I am a size J but i did a conversion on a website and i think I am a size 4 5/8. Will .70 look big considering i have small fingers?

Mine is a half carat and I think it is perfect for me 🙂

No one has said anything negative about the size of my diamond.

OP–Your ring is completely stunning and gorgeous! I love the symmetrical bands it has, too–I think it really emphasizes the beauty of your center stone. Congrats!

My engagement ring is 1/5th carat & my wedding band is 1/4th carat. So about 1/2 carat for the two. No one has every said anything about their size. & Everyone’s rings look beautiful, btw!

In normal day to day interaction I would say that my ring is larger than most I see. However, living in the wine country I would have to imagine that the overall norm would be at least 1 carat at least if not more.

My centerstone is 0.70 carat, and it’s a total carat of 0.83. In my country it is very big. It’s a little awkward being 21and having a ring that’s waaay bigger than my boss.

But I love it! It is THE ring<3

I think your size is DEF NOT small!! That is a perfect size in for women over the age of 25. I was 20 when I got married and mine was 1.02ct but that was a super shocker. My best friend who was recently engaged and she is 22 and her’s is less than .5 but still beautiful!!! I have seen rings literally 1/3 of the price of my ring but it was over 2 ct.!!! People who stress quantity without any consideration of quality usually don’t know that much about diamonds. Your Fiance did amazing, its a beautiful setting and a perfectly reasonable ct size!!! Don’t worry about your friends, they are probably jelly that you found your soul mate early 😉 like i did!!
