i live in a suburb in Houston, we are about 10 minutes from NASA. Our home was $400k, 3600sq with many upgrades. The average home cost I would say is around $250k for the area. High end $1.5. Just curious what houses cost where you guys live? Do you feel you get a lot for your money?

Lol, I can’t help but laugh when I see numbers like that. Vancouver – a 1300sqft tear down on a lot goes for at least a million. A house as large you mentioned in your post would be at least $600,000 in the suburbs.

sscott06 : hahahahahaha. That was a fun trial.
I live in a very large state so I just did my city.
For a 3600 sqft home in my city it ranges between 1.2-2.2 million dollars. Million.

My 3600 sq ft townhouse was $225k! Welcome to the southern states! Having moved from up north, I almost felt like I stole it. My sister lives in FL and although she has a smaller house (about 1700 sq ft I think) it has a gorgeous yard with a screened in pool. She paid about $160k. You definitely get more for your money down south.

Starting from £1.2million ($1.5million) upwards. It’s hard to give an average because houses of this size come with a lot of varying land size and land is so expensive here (home county countryside about one hour from London), but maybe £2.5-3mil average?
I remember when I’d watch American TV as a child and all of the houses seemed to be like Home Alone and I used to beg my parents to move to America because Americans were all rich with big houses haha.

chocochai : lol yup. I laughed too because it’s ridiculous! we want to buy a house in Burnaby, but I don’t think that is going to happen anytime soon.

sscott06 : About the same if you’re okay with a St. Louis. In the closer subburbs it’s more, but in the further out subburbs less.

In my city, anywhere between $2-30 million, depending on neighborhood. I’m in NYC.

I’ve never seen a property that big in my city, but I just did a quick check. For 3,000 sq ft seems to be around 8-10 million USD. Cheapest I found was 4.6 million USD.
