newbee5 :  Comparison is the theif of joy. Someone will always have a bigger ring, house, nicer car, hotter SO whatever. These are not the things that make us happy, yes my ring brings me joy but as cliche as it sounds it’s because of the one who gave it to me. In your 20s 1ct is pretty darn big and once your married a few months literally nobody will care anymore, including probably you.

I have a hair over 2cts. I’m 31 and was married with a smaller heirloom which was passed down (.80) at 23. If my then fiancé bought the stone when we were engaged it probably would of been a .50-.75 which I would of loved. I’m originally from a place (NY) where no one has less then 1.5, most of my friends got married young with 2ct+. now I’m in northern CA, literally on farm country and most of my friends just wear plain bands or have very modest rings,- and let me tell you..they aren’t on weddingbee LOL…it’s very subjective I guess.

Mine is 1 carat… I wish I would have sacrificed on color and gotten a bigger stone like 1.5 carats. I have fat fingers so my stone looks small

.47 old mine cut solitaire that is currently getting a new head and resize before he proposes. I didn’t want anything bigger than a half carat.

Mine is about 2cts.. and a band for every two years of marriage.. lol… I can only imagine I’ll have no fingers visible if I’m at the 50 or 60 year mark!!
