I think all the samples I tried on were sizes 10~14. Bridal sizes are way different than street sizes, though. I’m a street size 4 and ordered my wedding dress in a size 12.

I am a size 4 but when I got married, I think the dress was like a size 8…

It depends where you go. I was worried about this too as I heard size 10 was the norm. But I went to a small local place that had 2s, 8s, 10s, 12s, 14s, 16s, and up into the 20s.

IveBeenDreaming:  When I went shopping, all the dress were an 8 or a 10. I’m a street size 14 or 16, so I was not having fun.

IveBeenDreaming:  I would say a size 10 is equivalent to a size 6 and is the “average size”.  Most dresses I tried on were able to be zipped up and didn’t require any clips or a fabric panel.  Only certain areas didn’t fit perfectly such as the bust area.

When I went shopping with my daughter, she went to 2 stores that had a maximum price of around $3000. She could fit into all their samples. (She’s tall and busty). When we went to a boutique that had famous designer names (don’t know the max. price), they were significantly smaller. The few, larger sized ones available, that she could try on, were nowhere near the style that she was interested in wearing, so that visit was a washout. (Maybe they were street sized 8 or 18?). She ended up with a bridal 14.

Most of the dresses i tried on were 8-12. Some dresses they had in 20. I was a street size 10 at the time and was able to zip them all up.

David’s Bridal has almost all sizes in stock on the floor to try on which is really nice. That might be a great place to go to figure out what shape you like even if you don’t care fo their dresses. Also, their dresses are generally “street size” and i found that they fit me better off the rack than any designer dress i tried on. So I bought my dress from there and didn’t need alterations.
