I loved st. Thomas. they do have a lot of turtles there. I went on an excursion to turtle cove and we swam with them. It was so cool. They pop out of the water and are so big. It’s really amazing.

you really can’t expect too much when it comes to Cuba, and if you’re a picky person, don’t go, haha. It’s one of my favourite places though, and we feel super safe there, and the beach is absolutely amazing!!!!
I too feel very safe there and unlike Mexico or Jamaica, I find you don’t get harassed by vendors or panhandlers constantly. No one in Cuba has ever asked us for money.
@FoxyBride14 OMG! That sounds like so much fun!!! How did you book that excursion? Through your resort?
The only place we got slightly harrassed was in Havana, but that is to be expected. The people of Cuba are really amazing.
this sounds amazing but costly! Was it if you don’t mind me asking?
What I would say, is to really prioritize what is important to you, whether you want all-inclusive, and budget. Then meet with a travel agent who specializes or has lots of experience with Caribbean travel. They should be free, and can get you discounts and lots of great tips.
Have fun!
I’ve been to most of the Caribbean Islands before…. US Virgin Islands, British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Guadeloupe, Dominica, Grand Bahama Island, Nassau, and we honeymooned in Jamaica. The USVI has plenty to keep you busy… Same with Barbados.
For our honeymoon, we just wanted to stay on the resort and relax and be pampered and not be on any type of schedule. Jamaica is perfect for that! We were there 8 days at a Couples resort and were never bored. The resort had everything we could ever want and more on the property 🙂
It depends what you are looking for. I think the Dominican has some of the best beaches, especially around Punta Cana — gorgeous white sand that doesn’t get hot and stretches uninterrupted for miles and miles. Great snorkeling/scuba as well — especially if you go to one of the National Parks. But if you don’t want to lay around on the beach or aren’t into scuba it might not be so much fun — no matter how amazingly gorgeous.
St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands is kind of a tourist trap (big stop for cruise ships with lots of junk to buy) and a lot more expensive than the Dominican, but St. John is nice. And there are sea turtles!!
I’ve actually enjoyed most of Mexico and South America way more than the Carribean, but the Carribean can make for a great honeymoon. If you want to do the all-inclusive route it can help to book at a couples-only type place to get the vibe you are probably looking for.
i just got back from Hualtuco Mexico. Thats where i got engaged and we will being going back to same resort for our honeymoon! Its beautiful. Prettiest water, mountains and jungle. It’s very peacful still very undeveloped. The road from the airport is still a dirt road for like 10 miles before it turns into a paved road. It’s slowly progressing. The locals are so nice there, they dont hound you like in cancun or cozumel. It’s should definitely be on everyones to do list!
