I use blogger.  aka blogspot.  You do NOT have to have a gmail address, either!!

I’ve also seen wordpress and livejournal (though the latter is often blocked at work places.  not sure why…)

here’s my blog (it’s also in my profile):  http://afantasywedding.blogspot.com

now, I used Artisteer 2.0 to create mine, but you can also create really GREAT blogs by using their advanced creater tool.  It’s really simple and straightforward.  And You can also download/upload other templates besides the ones blogger offers.

A lot of bees have blogspot blogs, but they also have wordpress (not as customizable, unless you pay).

hope this helps!!!  and good luck!!!

Before I started blogging on here I used blogger. It’s super easy to use and they have a bunch of templates you can use or you can find other free ones online. I’ve never used anything else.

Having tried several free blogging sites, my favorite is WordPress. It has great usability and functions (lots of awesome widgets), and is also attractive. Very clean layout/design, with lots of design options to choose from. πŸ™‚

I tried wordpress, but you can’t change the templates or really customize them unless you pay.  Unless they’ve changed it in the last few months….

I currently have four at blogger, plus an couple old ones I never use.

Another benefit of blogger (not sure about the others) is you can leave it private, public, or public but not listed (in other words, it won’t show up on any google or search, but anyone and everyone can see it if they know the address).

Also, it doesn’t expire.  Ever.  which is REALLY nice.

@Zinzerena: I’ve found that their templates are customizable enough, for my purposes anyway, and that their templates are much nicer looking than the ones on other blogging sites to begin with!

WordPress also has the same privacy functions, and the blogs never expire.

@Minutiae: I think my problem was I could upload anything without having to pay a fee.  I tend to get into the html programming and wordpress hasn’t allowed me; or at least, I haven’t found a way around it without needing to pay a fee.

I have a WordPress blog with a customized header I designed myself using PhotoShop.  Not sure what options you are looking for, but it’s worked well for me and it’s always what I recommend.  I cannot STAND the way commenting for most blogger blogs work, so that’s what tipped the scales for me to use WordPress.

More importantly, though, I cannot recommend enough using Windows Live Writer for posting, regardless of what platform you use to blog.  It makes uploading pictures and writing and scheduling posts a breeze!  Just google it–it’s easy to download and you just follow the wizard to get your blog set up on it.  I cannot recommend it enough!  πŸ™‚

I also like Blogger, it’s easy to use, and you can customize it pretty nicely if you know a little HTML. πŸ™‚

Personally, I swear by Livejournal.com   I love it! It easy to use on the basic account settings, but if you want to pay like $9.95 for a premium account and learn a little CSS coding, you can customize it pretty much however you want.

There’s tons of tutorials and LOADS of communities to join, for people who have interests in just about anything you can think of.

My two cents! Good luck on choosing one. πŸ™‚
