The BEST wedding DIY I ever saw were custom magnets. The bride and groom met in Korea (he was stationed there, she was teachng there). Their favors were made of clay, and looked like little figures in traditional Korean dress playing musical instruments. They were so cute and lovingly made. My parents still have them on their fridge almost 15 years later.

The best wedding DIY I ever saw was here on WeddingBee. eehkay made these for her wedding:

balloon covers

flower curtain

I would caution however, that the best DIY’s are not a reference point to start but a lofty goal to maybe one day attain. Most of us will not produce the BEST.

Bakerella’s whole wedding was pretty awesomely DIY.  I also just love homemade cake stands out of platters or plates and candlesticks or glasses.  I just love the look of them.  Like these

Our entire wedding was pretty much DIY, but I was particularly pleased with our jam DIY favour.  My Aunt made the jam and we did all the packaging.  Darling Husband designed the label and we carried the graphics through several other stationary items.

BUMP!! 🙂
I love this thread and I want to see more. Deep down inside I want to be a super crafty lady but I find it very overwhelming.

OH gosh I’ve seen some AMAZING DIY projects here on WB…. Invite Suites that look better than some “professional” invites & Reception decor/guestbook tables/centerpeices that are amazing too! Way too many to list & since I’m past my own wedding I don’t bookmark them anymore. Some very crafty ladies here though!

For my own wedding my favorite DIY I did was my bouquet:

I don’t know how I could even begin to pick from all the awesome stuff I’ve seen, but the best one I’ve done was a doily bunting banner. It was super easy ($3/5 yards, aproximately), super cheap, and if you just string up a half mile of them you’ll have an instantly adorable space.

@MabelleBliss:  That banner sounds like it’d be awesome, do you have a link to instructions / pics?

@GoddessofNerdvana:  I don’t remember what the original tutorial was from, but basically I bought a couple packs of paper doilies from the dollar tree, folded them in half and glued them on a ribbon (also dollar tree) So that they were almost touching (you can do it more spread out too). In the original instruction you were supposed to fold the ribbon in half over the doilies, which may or may not be prettier but is more work. If you’re having it up against a wall you can cut the doilies in half and just glue one side, and get twice as many.

The best were handmade stained glass suncatchers that were made by the MOB and given as favors to each individual.

The last wedding I went to was in a barn in Northern Vermont in September.  The MOB quilted table runners in orange and burgandy for each table.  Really nicely done.
