I thought this entire time that I was planning a “low budget” wedding. Well, I just added up the numbers today and it hits close to 10 grand!! Holy cow how does that happen??
So I got curious, what is the cost of your wedding? And this includes rings, honeymoons, dresses, etc. Anything wedding related 🙂

With everything all said and done, I think we spent about $5000 or so. I wasn’t keeping track too much, as we planned over the course of 2 years.

We spent $10k. 🙂 $10k is still a low budget wedding. The average American wedding costs $28k now!

Including honeymoon, we’re close to $30K.

In the same boat, planned to have a low budget wedding and expenses are creeping up close to $10,000 (including honeymoon but not including my e-ring and our wedding bands, that would put it around $20,000). But, as Zippylef says, $10,000 is considered a low-budget wedding these days. At least that’s what I keep telling myself when a little guilt creeps in. Haven’t ordered flowers yet * gulp *

I think you may need to add more price points for your poll. We are over $20k for sure. What does the cost of the wedding include? I know some ladies bundle in rings, engagement rings, and honeymoon and some are literally just the costs related to the event itself. Our rings were pricey so that would push me into another bracket!

I’m pretty sure we’re going to come in right at 15k – the bulk of that will be for the hall if every single guest shows up.

We started with a $25k budget, but have ended up closer to $40k. We had a few things that we weren’t willing to go without (open bar, providing transportation for our wedding guests, a live band), and a really long guest list. We are still going without a few odds and ends (chair covers, programs).

$500 boots (good excuse to get those new Old Gringos I’ve been wanting)
$600 photographer for 2 hours
$75 marriage certificate

It’s crazy how costs creep up on you! I thought “Oh! That’s it for the venue? Cheap!” and then the catering bill? Not the best, but manageable! And don’t forget to pay up for that cruise you booked, and the photography? Still owe the rest. And on and on and on. Sheesh. Today was the first time I made a spreadsheet (and I’m getting married in 3 months. Whoops) So I’m still in shock, haha.

More poll options added 🙂

I’ve had a spreadsheet from the very start, and the expenses still ended up higher than I wanted. When I plugged in $25k with 300 guests in to the budget calculators, everything came in a touch lower than the quotes I was getting.

37K – this includes my ring(5K) and the honeymoon(3K)

Oops, sorry– I didn’t include the honeymoon in our number when I voted. But I don’t really consider that a part of it because we do a 2 week vacation every year, and this year it just happens to call right after our wedding, but the cost is about the same as our regular vacations ($5,000)– so I don’t really consider it “extra” since we would have taken a trip no matter what this summer.
As for the wedding, we are doing things super casual, but it’s not really “low budget” we don’t really have a set budget, but the uber-accountant in me has a general ledger for all wedding related expenses, so even though I’m not all that worried about what the number will be, I still want to know exactly how much it is.
Right now we have spent $11,141 and I am anticipating a final balance of $13,692. Honeymoon is $2,593 spent, and a final balance of $5,000.
