Okay so, hi guys! First time posting here. I’ve been just completely lusting after an oval halo ering for sometime now. At first I thought I wanted morganite, but I wanted the sparkle and fire of a moissanite instead. I came across this beautiful and suprisingly cheap ring on etsy at first: https://www.etsy.com/listing/471851543/oval-cut-15ct-esdomera-moissanite-halo
but then I came across this somehow on aliexpress: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Oval-Cut-1ct-ASCD-Simulated-Diamond-Halo-Style-Pave-Set-925-Sterling-Silver-Engagement-Ring-Band/32728896201.html?spm=2114.40010708.4.22.AVRPUh
Now obviously the aliexpress one is oddly MUCH cheaper even though it comes with two extra bands. However, doesn’t it seem like both websites use similar images? Are they the same rings? I of course would be delighted for my boyfriend to only spend $100 on a beautiful ering as we are on a tight budget. But, should I be weary of this? Any input would be greatly appreciated! 🙂
(hopefully I inserted the links correctly)

pinksugar08 : The ring from aliexpress is using CZ as the main stone. Honestly, I wouldn’t pay $105 for it, but look on Berricle if you don’t mind CZ and you’ll probably find something similar for less money

I really don’t know that much about moissanite, and have never heard of esdomera moissanite. Maybe some other bee can help you? It is really pretty, though

pinksugar08 : So the first is a moissanite (unknown source, ring is from China) and they have 9k and 14k gold options. The 2nd is a CZ set in sterling silver, that honestly already looks faded and cloudy.
It really depends on your budget. If you want something that will last, CZ in silver is not going to give that to you. A moissanite will last and so will gold (I’d go with 14k not 9k). However, this etsy ring may be a bit of a gamble. Ships from china, which some people have luck with, and some don’t. You also don’t know where the moissanite is from and therefore have no idea about the color/brilliance etc.
I’d suggest reading some basic info and forums here about moissanite (there’s a ton of info!) and looking at more reputable sellers. Moissaniteco.com is one of the biggest and well known seller, and from what I read here have pretty good customer support. I have also heard great things about Rosado’s Box on etsy. While I personally can’t vouch for them I know many other bees can.
Pricewise, I found some comparables and an almost identical moissaniteco with a center stone of 1.5 cts is $1080, and a 1ct is $895. https://www.moissaniteco.com/classic-forever-brilliant-oval-moissanite-halo-engagement-ring-p-18850.html
Rosados box is $1,600 for a comparable 1.5 ct equiv (I don’t see a 1ct). https://www.etsy.com/listing/219708201/rebecca-8x6mm-14kt-white-gold-oval-fb?ga_search_query=Rebecca&ref=shop_items_search_7
So it all depends on your budget. If you’re not wanting to spend a lot, I think the 1ct moissaniteco is worth the upgrade from the one in the OP. But it’s up to you!! Let us know and show us a pic when you choose!! (Oh – and if you go with the first etsy one – pay with a credit card just in case!)

pinksugar08 : one is made of white gold the other is made of sterling silver. I agree with PP, research is everything.

Looks like they are the same people. If you notice the etsy seller is Esdomera, and the Ali seller if you scroll down sells ‘Esdomera moissanite’ the Ali seller also has an option to change the metal of the ring- but you have to contact them.
I would proceed with caution with either seller, to be honest.

I bought a Moissanite ring from Esdomera before and it was beautiful! Claire was really easy to work with and I love the ring, even though I never wear it (I’m just too attached to the ring my husband gave me to swap it out for another one).

personally I’d pass.. it seems to be the same seller (even the pics of the glove hand are the same) but made of different things. One sayd “Esdomera moissanite” and one is a “simulated diamond” (CZ) one is silver and one is gold. I would worry about getting the edomera moissanite and it being a knock off CZ and not a true moissanite.

pinksugar08 : Like others have said, one is a CZ in a sterling silver setting and the other is moissanite in a 14k white gold setting. I’m not sure about this particular type of Moissanite and it seems to be a bit cheaper than your usual one so I would approach with caution. If it’s a regular moissanite, moissanite is more resistant and will stand the tests of time much better than CZ. And gold is stronger and sustains longer than silver.

pinksugar08 : Well the aliexpress one is cheaper because it isn’t moissanite, it’s CZ so that’s the big difference. However, I personally wouldn’t buy the etsy one either, particularly since they appear to be the same seller as the aliexpress one. A 1.5ct oval moissy from Charles & Clover costs a minimum of $519 for just the loose stone. So whatever moissy this seller is using is a much lower quality most likely. And given that they are selling the same ring style somewhere else with CZ I’d have to wonder if it’s really a moissy at all.

lovesbooks99 : do you have a picture of the ring? Like everyone said here, I’m worried it’s a cz which is fine if it is but I don’t want to be paying that much for one.

pinksugar08 : This is the exact ring from Esdomera that I bought, which they still sell on their website in Etsy. It is a 2 carat (8 mm) Charles & Colvard Forever Brilliant Moissanite and it comes with the certification card and warranty. I had a jeweler look at it for and he said it was indeed a moissy. It is really beautiful, even though it is not a Forever One or H & A. I love the simplicity and timelessness of this ring. I am thinking of gifting it to my sister as I already have a diamond engagement ring that I love wearing and I know she’d love it.
