Please ignore the see-through bodice, all I want to know about is the skirt fabric. I love that it has structure but also looks soft enough (and hopefully stretchy enough to sit down when the dress is that tight!) for that flowy feel I’m going for. I have a dress from Jasmine’s Bridal Shop that I’m basically deconstructing and having remade with a different skirt. The fabric for the skirt that seems the best fit so far is silk jersey – not a formal wedding, don’t need to hear it’s tacky/not formal enough/whatever – and I just ordered a sample from a reputable online retailer. So Bees, what kind of material is the skirt of this dress and am I totally off base with silk jersey for my vision – and I say vision loosely, I just wish what I have pictured in my head would happen *magically* and I wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.

I thought maybe it was a type of stretch satin skirt and when I did a google image search I found this description “Lace Top Mermaid Satin Sleeveless Court Train Bridal Gown”
Then after I looked at it again I thought maybe it was a BertaBridal dress an based on website, I’d say yes lol. This is her Fall 2013 collection and the first dress looks very similar to the one you posted http://www.bertabridal.com/bertafall2013
I also found this Berta Bridal picture
and it has that tight look around the hips and you can see based on the skirt that its satin. The dress you posted may be a matte white stretch satin but I’m not sure.
Hope this helps a little!!

I have no idea what the material is, but I wanted to say there is nothing tacky about that dress. It is beautiful just the way it is!

SkinnyLatte17: See I thought it could be similar to satin, but it doesn’t have that sheen (that I really don’t care for on me, I didn’t even know a matte satin existed lol). And I did an image search too, but only came up with aliexpress links and the like. I know that silk jersey won’t have the same structure but I’m just not sure about using a satin… *sigh* I never thought I’d care so much about a dress for one day lol
CaliRorter: I agree! Although my Fiance would have a heart attack if I wore a completely see through bodice like that. The bodice I’m salvaging from my current dress has a little bit of see through, but just the right amount I think :

Bump? Anybody else have advice on the OP dress skirt?

FutureMrsJohnson_: It’s beautiful! I love skirts like that, dramatic and the material thickness helps. It looks like a polyester mix. Perhaps polyester and satin or silk.

I’d say satin poly blend.

The material could be silk crepe. THis would havesome stretch with a slight pebbly texture or it could be gazar. Take a look at Davids Bridal VW351081 online. It is a smoother texture and a heavier fabric. Suggest you visit a reputable fabric store and look into these fabrics.
