Hmm…that’s a hard one! I was a DIY bride, so all my decoations were DIY. Some of my favorite things were our cake topper (that we made together!):

And I really loved setting off Chinese wish lanterns!

I’ll be having henna done on my feet. Fiance is Eritrean, and in his culture it’s tradition for the bride to have it done. I think it’s so beautiful, and will be a great nod to his culture. I’m looking forward to having it done. Not sure on the design yet as I want something very traditional to his region, but I thought this design was soooo beautiful!!!

Also unique for us will be a Catholic and Muslim service. We’ll have family members on Fiance side to read passages from the Qur’an. My family is all Catholic and they have all never been to fusion wedding of cultures before.

We’re also doing a Hot Chocolate Station. We’re having a winter wedding so we thought it was pretty fitting. Various flavours of Hot Chocolate, toppings like caramel and peanut butter sauce, mini marshmellows, candy cane syrups etc. I mentioned this to a few people so far and they’ve never had that at a wedding, so we’re looking forward to seeing it on display. Found the picture below that kind of inspired us. Well get plant pots, paint them with chalkboard paint and fill them with all the topppings.

we had a personalized backdrop with our own logos on it.  when the guests arrived my sister took a picture of each couple or family in front of it (like the paparazzi on the red carpet).

after the ceremony, my sister printed off each 4×6 picture and put them on little individual stands with their table # on it.  we used their pics for the escort cards and they had a keepsake.

the backdrop was used for lots of crazy pics during the reception.

I had a guitarist play a few of our favourite songs live

I wrote a song for my H for our first dance as a surprise

I hired a charicature artist to draw everyone’s pics.-huge hit

I had a flambe show and crepes

We did a cocktail reception style in the evening as a lot of our guests had young families or were much older…everyone seemed to appreciate that!

My best friend fluted me down the aisle

@Pokemon:  That all sounds awesome! I had my brother play guitar as I walked down the aisle with my parents. I agree, it makes it so personal and cozy!

Dh and his groomsmen came to the ceremony by pontoon boat, while “Chariots of Fire” was playing. This was the signal that everything was starting.

All of our ceremony music was very untraditional. My bms walked down to Shania Twain “You’re still the one”, and I walked down to a George Strait song.

Our cake was very different, and I loved it 🙂
