We hired a videographer for our wedding and part of the package we chose we got to do what they call a “love story” where back in May, my Fiance and I went to a park with the videographer and he interviewed us both together and separately. He will show this during dinner at our reception and it will be the first time that my Fiance and I have seen it as when he interviewed us separately we don’t know what each other said. We sent a message to one another on tape so I’m sure I’ll tear up when I watch what he says.

Hmmm that’s a tough one since I’m doing ALOT of DIY projects that people have never seen before in our family and friends.

Let me see, for sure having my blue crinoline with blue shoes will turn some people’s heads. My guestbook also, I’m doing the mini envelopes and I think that will surprise some people as well.

We are getting in the fall and living upstate NY, apple picking that time of year is huge.  So I am thinking of doing some sort of apple bar.  Apple pie, apple crisp, caramel apples, warm apple cider, apple cider donuts etc.

Theme is “Key to My Heart”. Escort cards will have skeleton keys attached and when they arrive to their seat, their will be a heart lock tied to the napkin.

Not sure what our grand entrance is.  Fiance is very flashy so it’s gotta be good.

Here are a few of our most unique ideas…. I love them and am SO excited for the wedding so I can see the looks on our guests faces!

– We made our own wedding bands at a local jeweler’s studio. After working with the jewelry artist for some time, we went into her studio and actually MADE the rings ourselves (with her supervision and guidance of course). It was the ultimate DIY.

– We are commissioning a local musician to compose our wedding ceremony music… a full score from prologue to processional to recessional. The piece will need a string ensemble, so the whole musical portion of the ceremony should be memorable!

– We are getting married outside, but Fiance still wants to be surprised as I walk down the aisle. I am walking with my bridesmaids from the house towards to ceremony location by a pond on the grounds while they sheild me with parasols. Once we hit the end of the aisle they will put their parasols down as they each walk up, slowly revealing me to him and the guests.

– We are being married by FI’s uncle, who will get a Justice of the Peace for a day license to marry us. Because neither of us are religious, we have decided to write our own ceremony and vows from beginning to end, thus being able to incorporate words that are most important to us.

– We plan on making a specialty beer for the cocktail hour and reception. Fiance loves beer and I love wine so we were going to make both, but realistically wine can come out pretty bad if you mess up even slightly so we are just going with beer.

Ummm we’re having a poutine station at the midnight table and I plan on wearing a sari for the father daughter dance (my dad is Sri Lankan) as a surprise.

hm… We had penguins at the reception. That was pretty cool. Our venue was an aquarium, and we had fog screens with our pictures on them as you entered the ceremony room (aka the shark tank room).

We are having a violinist perform traditional music, and then more contemporary and top 40 stuff for the cocktail hour and during dinner.  We’re having a make-your-own nacho station for the evening buffet.  My dad has a surprise planned for us… I don’t know what it is, but I’m assured it is unique.  Can’t think of anything else!

I wrote our own vows. So that’s unique, there isn’t going to be a “sermon” and “I do” type of thing. I also chose our own Bible readings from a specific Bible version. So the officiant will have to let go of what he thinks ceremony vows etc… should be and just follow what I want! LOL

I also want it to be videotaped so I can show others that weren’t there so they can hear them being said.
