I think that sometimes, mirrors will give more depth to a shorter centerpeice, and sometimes the centerpeice does look better with a mirror under it; however, we will not be having mirrors under our centerpeices because I think it would take away from the look of our centerpeices.

I think it adds a little bit of something and helps to define the centerpiece area.  Also, if you put candles on it, they will bounce off it.  Lastly, (like this is an essaySmile), if you have a smaller centerpiece it will make the center wider and fill up the space.

I think it serves as center as well for the centerpiece.  Most centerpieces would look odd if they were just floating in the middle of the table, without some kind of center.  Especially if the linens are white.  I prefer some kind of fabric center personally, I am not a huge mirror fan.  When I do see them, they seem dated.

Like this one for example.  I think it helps to define the centerpiece because all the details could get lost.

PPs all have good points. I’m using mine to bounce extra light from the candles. I’d sure love to have those amazing mirrored candle boxes that were on Wedded to Perfection…*sigh* Gorgeous.

I thought overall mine weren’t important but I got a chance to see them before and after the mirrors and they looked taller and bigger with the mirrors.  It also made the candles looks better, so in the end I am happy that I used them.
