I answered the poll but never left a comment.

International LDR here. We met online, became friends and a year later realized it has evolved. *fingers crossed* The LDR isscheduled to end next year 🙂

Fiance and I have always been in a LDR since meeting at a mutual friend’s wedding.  2.5 years later, and we still are.  I’m a teacher, and he’s unemployed currently.  I keep asking him to move up here with me before our wedding next year, but he doesn’t want to impose his debt on me (he’s living with his parents).  We’ll see what happens after the wedding…I really don’t want to leave a permanent position in the education field right now.

I met my SO during a long weekend visiting a friend out-of-state. The last thing on my mind was starting a relationship with someone who lived 1000 miles away, but…. it happened!

Funny how you meet your perfect match in the most unexpected way/place, isn’t it?

Three poll choices suit me, military, always been long distance and international.

We met online in a chat room when I was 15, 7.5 years ago. He lived in NJ, me in Canada. Then he joined the military and was stationed in California. We’ve never lived together, just some extended visits… a month here, few weeks there, more recently I spend 3 months with him.

We’re hoping to close that gap soon when we marry. We’re waiting on a fiancé (k-1) Visa and crossing our fingers that a deployment doesn’t interfere too much.

we live together now, but will be LDR starting next month.  he got a job out of state he absolutely cannot turn down and i have a very underwater condo here.  i’ll stay with the condo for a year or two while i try to sell or just end up strategically defaulting on it.  either way, i have a good job here and it’s financially beneficial for us to live apart for a while.

@thursdayschild: Good luck on the visa! Hopefully the processing time hasn’t been too awful long.

Hopefully *fingers crossed* I’ll file my SO’s k-1 visa paperwork shortly after Christmas. That’s what we’d like, but it may be pushed back a bit, he and I said we’d talk about on his next trip here.

International and technically work…we both work in the music industry (him as artist, me as crew) and met by chance while he was here on his first North American tour. He’s from Northern Ireland. Currently dealing with the fun fiance visa process so I can get over there and we can get married!

We were friends back when I lived in the States, just out of HighSchool. We kept in touch for a while, then lost sight of eachother. We reconnected after I had moved permanently abroad – he came to visit, and that was all she wrote. Now we’re trying to get living situation in line, and then his residency here in France.

Tomorrow I join the LDR ranks for the first time. Technically I can answer 3 fields in the poll as well but I chose work as its his job that is moving him to another country and school which is keeping me from following. We are also international, living in his country at present. We’ve never been in an LDR before for more except for an occasional business trip. The longest we were apart was 5 weeks while he went on a road trip across the US.

@Snowy414: I voted work because my Fiance moved for work.  However, we started off with LDR from the beginning.  I moved since then but now he got a job offer, now we’re back to LDR 🙁

Several reasons for us; we started long distance but also school and work.

He is from Washington state and I’m from Alabama but we met in Chicago back in highschool. Then, I went to school in Florida and then South Carolina while he attended school in Washington. After I now have a good job in SC and he has a good job in WA / still goes to school there. I told him I’m not moving out there until we’re engaged. Moving to the other coast is a big deal and I’m not doing it until he’s officially made the commitment to marry me. Plus he’s so busy with work and school that I would hardly ever see him anyway. We are waiting for him to finish school to get married and we won’t live together until we’re married so there is  no rush to move yet.

I’m sure this is the reason for most young brides (I’m only 18 yikes!) but it’s because we are both in college still. Same state, but on exact opposite sides. It’s been rough, but we talk every day so we don’t lose touch. Thankfully, after this semester I am going to be transferring schools so we will be closer together. Miss him so much! <3
