Other: Kids! We each have a child from previous relationships and are tied to our respective locations in Oregon and Florida. Le sigh… At least his daughter is older and graduates soon’ish (just over 1.5 yrs to go).

We’re an international couple, and we are currently in a 5 month stint apart because I had to come back to the States to take care of some things. We met in Haiti and will live in Haiti, but since July I’ve been in the States visiting my family and wrapping up life here (storage unit full of stuff that needed to be sorted through, repairs on the house I’m renting out, wedding shopping, etc.)

Graduate school keeps us apart. When we met were were in neighboring towns, and 5 months later he moved away! When we first met he was applying for school, so I knew it was going to happen. Long distance is horrible, but so worth it for him!

We’re both in the Navy reserves, him working full time and me until September. We’re both in shore jobs now (though with my trade, I always am) but they still manage to send him away. This is the longest period he’s been gone, 1 month. He’ll be back Thursday and I can’t wait! He goes back to the ships in January, so he’ll be gone even more, but we’ll be living in Victoria where I know people and, well, people speak English (I’m an Anglo with limited French living in a pretty French city).

We live just across the border from each other. It is only an hour away but the border makes it so much longer 🙁 USA/Canada
