I’m home sick today… boo π
So I’m working from home and using my vanity as a desk.
On my vanity is a picture frame my Fiance made me for my 21st birthday. Let me start by saying he is a very practical person (not a hopeless romantic like me) and also not very crafty. He’s more of a computer geek type.
Anyway, he made this for me out of Popsicle sticks 5 years ago and I cherish it to this day. Every time we move it has to ride in my lap in the front seat because it is so fragile. I’m amazed it’s made it from North Carolina through 3 apartments in NYC and is still intact. He had to buy 3 different boxes of Popsicle sticks just to get the few in the right sizes he needed.

It looks like a 5 year old made it, but it warms my heart.

My Fiance was trying to cheer me up one day so he drew a picture of our cat Feanix. This was about 3 – 4 years ago. The magnets are stuck to the paper now.

Aww, that’s so cute! Fiance was my first boyfriend, and we met when I was 19, and I never got all those cute cheesey Valentine’s Day gifts. I hinted that I wanted something super cutesy for V-day, and he ended up getting me this giant stuffed frog that holds a heart that says “I love you,” chocolates and roses. It was so sweet of him :).
I told him he had to name the frog, and he came up with “the amphibian of love,” which still cracks me up.

For Valentines my Fiance made a pic of my daughter and I on a tile. It’s way crafty and he is also the computer type.

We don’t give each other a lot of gifts, but he does a lot of sweet stuff.
This one comes to mind – I had a horrible week at work, crying, etc. and was anxiously awaiting the weekend. On Friday he was out of town, but left specific instructions for me, almost like a scavenger hunt.
I was supposed to head to a place downtown – he had booked me a yoga session, and even bought me a new outfit to wear there so I wouldn’t have to go home. Afterward he sent me and a friend to dinner.
When I got home there was a sweet card, and a note to go to the fridge, where a bottle of Malibu Rum and pineapple juice were, with a note that says “DRINK ME”
He’s a sweetie for sure!

It’s not a typical gift, but the best thing my fiance has given me is a song he wrote. It amazes me that just a handful of months into our relationship, he had written a song that “sounds” exactly like me (if that makes sense, haha)! π

DH and I moved in together and after about 6 months I started to miss all the hussle and bussle of my parents house (I’m one of 8 so you can imagine there is always a lot going on there) he also knew that I missed all the animals from my parents house (they have a farm) so for valentines day he got me a cat! It was so sweet and she has been my side kick ever since!
Also one day he came home with a tote that he embroidered for me because I always go to yardsales and flea markets and put my finds in a tote, so he had embroidered to make it my special finds bag!

@Applestar13: What an ADORABLE drawing!
All these stories are so sweet and cute.
Fiance was in a fraternity at the time. So he had to lock himself in his dorm room with the popsicle sticks and giltter paint and pretend not to be there so his frat brothers wouldn’t tease him.
@Linz1231: Wow, a stress relieving scavenger hunt! What a great guy.
@jo.lee: Amphibian of love? That is too funny.
@tranquility: So cute! It was so funny to see his “crafty” side come out. It hasn’t appeared since! (Except for when he built the stand and hood for our fish tank, but that was more of a woodworking thing).

Last Valentine’s Day we promised that we wouldn’t give gifts or anything. But my SO suprised me by giving me a pair of fuzzy pants. I know they sound ridiculous but these pants were crafted by the gods. There so fuzzy and warm! He got a pair of these pants for xmas and they are beyond amazing. I would always steal them from him. So he gave me my own pair, the only hitch was that he gave them to me in his size so they are HUGE on me but he gets to wear them too. so I guess they were really a gift for himself. haha

My SO wrote a song for me for our first christmas together. He apparently had to record it in the pantry of his old kitchen so that his roommate wouldn’t hear him π
It’s an awesome song, and includes various things about me including a bit about my birthmark. It’s on my back, and SO calls it my pickle patch (I loooove to eat pickles, and he says the birthmark is a scratch and sniff, and it smells like pickles).
It makes me laugh when I think about it π

This is so dumb but I still love it… Early on in our relationship he sent me an email at work listing his favorite things about me. Number one on the list? “I love how much you love cheese.”
He still tells me that’s his favorite.

When we were dating he built me a panda with a heartbeat at Build-a-Bear for our one month-a-versary because I was moving 4 hours away the next week. It was cheesetastic but I love that bear!

When I left to go to college, I remember telling DH that the worst thing about living at home was that I missed my dog. I am a huge animal lover and the mutts used to sleep with me every night, so I was feeling a little puppy-sick. That year for Christmas, he bought me this MASSIVE stuffed dog. This thing is probably 2 feet tall. It was so sweet and cute.
