Love how many festivals and events go on in my city, as well as the variety of restaurants and businesses. I dislike how expensive everything is and how crowded it feels (I moved from a rural county to live here).

I need to count them, but I think this is my 30th city. While I would not place it even in the top ten, I do love its gorgeous trees and I hate that the people here seem to be extremely discourteous drivers. The military will move us again next year, so I won’t have to put up with the roads much longer.

I actually cannot think of one thing about living in middle Tennessee that I dislike. The traffic is bad, but not like many other places.

I absolutely love the scenery, the distinct seasons (with winter not being TOO cold), the mountains in one direction within driving distance and the beach also a 1/2 days drive away. The Southern cooking, the sports, the very beautiful state parks and trails. I live in a smallish town and commute into Nashville every day. I love how within 30 miles I can go from really trendy bars, shops and restaurants to rural as rural gets. I feel like I get the best of both worlds. It’s also really dog friendly, and since I have two that really require a lot of exercise– there’s parks and fields for them to run around in. I get out on my horse 3-4x a week and hit the trails and see new scenry every time, especially in the Fall when the leaves turn bright orange and red. Tennessee in the Fall is absolutely beautiful.

I miss from my homestate of Louisiana several cultural aspects and my preferred sports teams, but I don’t dislike where I live now at all!

I love living in suburbia!  We are 30 mins from a major city, but our town offers everything we could need itself as well.  Not to mention we are surrounded by trails and beautiful outdoor spaces as well.  Our town is super dog friendly which is awesome.   I don’t like how expensive it is and that we only live 15 mins away from my parents.  They expect us to spend time with them weekly which is a bit much!

I live in central Oahu

The one thing I love is living in paradise. I live in a place where people come to vacation. I can wear shorts and slippers year round. I get to spend my weekends lounging on the beach and hiking through lush forests that lead to breathtaking waterfalls.

The one thing I hate is living in paradise…The cost of living is so ridiculously expensive. Single story houses in the suburbs can cost up to a million dollars. It’s hard to find a stable job especially if you don’t know the right people. Traffic is horrendous and it’s only gonna get worse with more people moving to the islands.

I live in the SF Bay Area. I hate the endless traffic, the mediocre public transit, the high crime rates, and the horrendous cost of living/increasingly brutal social stratification that is squeezing out everyone but the Very Rich.

I love just about everything else. I love the mild, sunny weather and the endless list of parks I can visit to enjoy it with a picnic or a hike. I love the gardens, museums, libraries and theatres. I love the beautiful public spaces. I love knowing I can drive a couple hours and meander around Napa, or frolic in the waves at Santa Cruz, or fly kites at the Berkeley Marina, or barhop in San Francisco, or hike in Muir Woods on a whim. I love window shopping at everything from high end department stores to consignment shops and local boutiques. I love agonizing over what fantastic restaurant to try or revisit. I love having my pick of farmers markets and specialty groceries/butcher shops/fishmarkets/cheese shops/bakeries/etc etc. I love arguing over whether Four Barrel or Blue Bottle or Sightglass makes the best coffee. I love meeting old friends at been-there-forever, hole-in-the-wall cafes where I had first dates, and passing old oaks I climbed as a kid. I love being nearby my friends and family. I love the sense of loyalty and community. I love the sense of place.

What I dont like is that the majority of the population is under the poverty line, like 95% and what I like best is the affordable cost of living. We can live off of one income here.

Phoenix area, AZ

Love: weather, low cost of living, mountains, my job is okay

Hate: my family is back in Ohio, where I spent my whole life up until June. How the heat keeps me inside unless I’m in a pool. Traffic can be ridiculous. Stucco houses in every direction. Also, the snowbirds are coming so I’m sure I’ll hate that too. The ones that stayed behind for the summer drive soooooooo sloooooooowwwwwww.

We live in the Santa Cruz Mountains, CA.

Love: The trees, the weather, being out of the way but still only 20 minutes away from SC, the people, the community, the FRESH AIR

Hate: The lack of water (but that goes for the whole state) and outrageous rent costs

I’m from Toronto (my first 20yrs).  Since then I’ve lived in Aurora, Guelph, Kitchener and we’ve finally settled in Waterloo.

I love that Waterloo has the big city amenities that I’m accustomed to and a vibrant and booming city centre with plenty to do.  I also love that we can afford a good sized home with a nice yard to raise a family without having to be house poor.  My family (who still live in the GTA) thought our house must have cost us MUCH MORE than it actually did.

What’s annoying?  I really noticed a difference in aggressive drivers after moving from Guelph.  My biggest beef would probably be the student ghettos (having 2 major universities within blocks of each other) but we just avoid those areas, especially during move-in/out weekends!

I don’t miss Toronto, except maybe the variety of ethnic foods available.  The TTC is a joke, the traffic horrendous and housing costs are insane.  It’s also not far to visit…. best of both worlds.

I live in Chicago! I just recently moved so I may change my mind but so far my least favorite thing is how busy it is here. No matter the time of day or where your going there are lots people every where and so much traffic, that will take some serious getting use to! My favorite thng so far is the weather. I’m from AZ so actually having fall is nice…. ask me again when it’s snowing and you’ll proabably get a different answer. LOL

  • Wedding: September 2012

I live in a US Resort/Beach town.

LOVE : An awesome place to grow up, it’s more of a lifestyle than a place to live. Seasons, the beach, lots of outdoor activities. Being close to family.

HATE: Summer traffic and tourists. I recognize that it funds our economy but they can be increidibly rude and inconsiderate. Also because it’s our “season” we actually don’t get to enjoy much of summer. Non-retail/customer service jobs are the norm, so it can be hard to make a living and the cost of living is pretty high.

I live in Ohio.

I love mostly everything except presidential election season. Living in a swing state is exhausting.

  • Wedding: October 2015

I live in Austin.

I love that there is always something to do, amazing food, friendly people.

I hate that people here do not know how to drive. I also miss having actual seasons instead of cold or scorching hot. Sometimes it’s nice to see the snow…
