I’m having a very small Destination Wedding in Mexico. About 20 people tops. My first budget was 5k for everything. But now it’s more like 8-9k.

Interesting to see, it’s meant to be slightly cheaper for a dw apparently?

are you counting the trip as a whole, or just the wedding part? because we are combining our wedding trip with our honeymoon, so we are staying a whole 9 days.

Our first budget (when we were just paying for ourselves) was $5,000–that was having our wedding on the cruise ship while it was still in Baltimore and anyone could come (which was 50 guests). Now that our wedding is at sea we are covering the costs of the cruise for 10 guests, ourselves and the wedding and our total with everything included is closer to $14k.

@Verania:  DW’s can be cheaper, but typically they end up costing as much as or more than than a hometown wedding. It totally depends on the place you chose to get married and how much of your guests travel expenses you chose to cover. Since it is our celebration, we elected to cover the travel of our guests.

I would say less than 10 for us. Venue/catering is under 3, we’re driving to South Florida so a few hundred, cottage on the beach is around 2500 for the week.

mine was around $14K. included 10 days stay in Jamaica at 2 different resorts, airfare, ceremony, reception, and just about every other detail (dress, flowers, decor, welcome bags, etc..), you can think of.

Mine will be around 7-8K.  This is in Destin, FL  and includes travel costs for me and my fiance(we live in AZ). Will have around 40 guests and just going for a very laid back but fun beach wedding.  We are going on a separate honeymoon to Costa Rica  a few months later(those costs not in the 8K).

Mine would be about $8K, the most expensive parts are flights and hotels.  We have no guest.  It will be just my Fiance and I and our little boy :-).

With honeymoon and all wedding costs (including dress, rings, etc) covered for 14 guests, it is costing us around 22K. But it is also because we are having it at The Ritz Carlton so yeah, it can get pricey.

    12k-ish for 20 people.

A local wedding would have been 8k for about 100 people. It would not have been fancy or anything at all, but we would have had more guests. Not sure if that means a Destination Wedding is cheaper. I guess it just depends on how you look at it. We could prob do a wedding of almost the sme “caliber” locally for about 20k (20 peeps). Like 5 star dining at 5 star resort, etc for 20 people. With 100 people we would have been cooking our own food, we would be our own DJ, wedding in a barn, port-o-potties, etc. I don’t know if it’s cheaper bc we are spending more than we would locally, but It’s just however you look at it.
