@gingerkitten:  Why not just call it a co-ed shower?

@gingerkitten:  I would call it a wedding shower instead of an engagement party. That way people will know to bring registry items. I didn’t want a bridal shower and ended up doing the same thing. 🙂

@gingerkitten:  since this is posted under gifts/ registries (and you’re also questioning that part of things) im going to suggest that perhaps you word it as a “couple’s shower”, people here do it pretty regularly and it lets people know that its both men & women that will be attending.

in my experience, engagement parties are seen more as just a gathering to introduce both sides, etc. and not as much as a gift-giving get together.

if you are not concerned about getting things off of your registry/ gifts then I think it is ok to call it an engagement party, even though its closer to the wedding date.

i just know its more common to bring a gift along with you to a shower (although not always)

@gingerkitten:  Pre-Wedding Cocktail Party

not suuuuper catchy, but at least it conveys what you’re goin’ for! I agree that shower is often used in gift-giving scenarios so if you’re trying to avoid that, then I agree to keep that outta the “title”
