Ahh, shouldn’t the people who work at the stores know about this??? They should recommend the customer do separate transactions! That is too funny!

That happened on our registry at BBB. I deleted the items, and made a point of doing separate transactions when I bought for my Future Sister-In-Law. They should really make sure you know that when you go to check out. Or just not allow items to be added to the registry. That would solve it.

The SAME thing happened to us! And we received the gift already–so it wasn’t something they bought for themselves.

I am grateful for the gift but can’t help scratching my head a little–I mean, why not just buy off the registry if you’re going to buy something from that store anyway?

It’s just funny. We will probably end up exchanging the gift for something on our registry, after the wedding.

@Gemstone: and @MaggieGirl: Yeah, but it’s good that they DO add the items to the registry, so if it is a gift you and you totally hate it (or have one, or whatever), you can use their no-hassle return policy. You just take the item in and say, “My name is ___, I have a registry and would like to return this.” No questions asked, you walk out with the cash.

Otherwise, you’d have to have a gift receipt (hardly anyone included gift receipts with things at my shower) or whatever, and it could be a PITA.

Besides, if people look closely enough, they’ll see “0 Requested, 1 Purchased,” and know that you didn’t have that item on the registry to begin with.

This just happened to me today.  I am SO thankful for this thread, because I couldn’t figure out why there was foot cream on my registry, showing up as purchased!  Thanks for the info.!
