So I went with her to try on her dress and have it fitted. She has a hard time making it “stay up” if that makes sense. So just browsing a website and stumbled across a bustier. Is that was women wear under those mermaid strapless dresses? She want’s some ooph … and wants the dress to stay up … and also something for her tummy (gut) but she’s very thin.
What do you think?

My mermaid dress has two belly bands sewn inside, that hold it up. And my alterations lady is sewing in bra cups so I don’t have to wear a bra. I know a bustier wouldn’t have fit underneath my dress. Any chance she could have these things added?

What are belly bands? I’m sure she could have it added but I just need to find out what to add. =)

It’s two elastic strips that are sewn in at the seam at the side of the dress, that attach at the back with clasps. It really does hold the dress up and provide a little “lift”. One is literally at my waist and the other is higher up and a bit wider.

Why isn’t the place where she bought it and is having any alterations done telling you this? Every time I’ve had to buy a formal dress I’ve always been told what to get for underneath OR they’ve provided it during the fittings, as well as having them available for purchase.
Is this a bridal shop? If so,I’m surprised they aren’t offering suggestions or assistance.
