Our venue is charging 22% gratuity. I think that is way high considering a good tip is usually between 15-20%. What is your venue charging?

I leave 15-20% if the service was less than great… I’m not sure what the usual venue gratuity is, but 22% seems more than reasonable to me.
Ours is 20 percent, but I’ve had conflicting answers on what it is for. One person said it’s gratuity and another said it isn’t…which makes me think that the servers aren’t going to see any of it.
12% service charge, 8% administration fee, 6.25% state tax, 0.75% local tax.
Ours is basically charging an extra 27% on top of everything – but that also includes all local and state taxes. It sounds outrageous, but it was pretty much the standard rate offered at all places.
I believe on top of that, you are expected to give a cash tip to several people at the end of the night too which makes no sense to me.
Our venue didn’t charge gratuity, but our caterer charged 18%. Taxes should not be included in the calculation for gratuity. And gratuity shouldn’t be taxed.
18% service charge, plus 8.45% sales tax. Was lower than some of the other venues I looked at.
7.75% local sales tax and 20% service charge (inclusive of all service fees and gratuity).
